How about some pics from up there? Some good ones taken by digital camera vs. cell phone...

Amazing... I guess this fits the definition for beautiful disaster. I drove through several neighborhoods that had no power on my way in this morning and saw several tranformers popping and lighting up the sky. The heavy, wet snow has caused lots of big tree limbs to fall here on the SMU campus. It is going to take some serious $ to clean all of this up. In spite of that, I'm ready for the next one. Do we still have one brewing for around the 20th or so?

Wow we did break the all time storm total. That's amazing, OKC and Dallas both broke the storm totals all in one winter  I may not live long enough to see that broken again.

Been doing it for you Wxman57. Yesterday afternoon in the heavy snow, last night, and this morning. Will post some in a bit and then put up a link to an album. Wish you guys down south could have shared in this...it was a remarkable storm.

It's not like I would have gotten enough to actually play in it anyway, but it's still nice to watch it falling. I feel cheated. heh
Maybe next time.

Drive east towards Lake Charles...

While there are some light patches here and there, the bulk of the precip is now east of Lafayette. Unfortunately, no can do. If I could have taken a road trip, I'd be in the Dallas area right now, frolicking in the snow.

Awesome pics, iorange55. You guys keep 'em coming!

Since I'm sure you don't want to post a gazillion pics in this thread, you could start a new thread for your snow pics, or you all could share the snow pics thread that HockeyTx82 started yesterday. Then we could browse one thread, full of snow pics of this record breaking event.

We broke 10" at the house here in Kennedale, I never thought I would see that happen in my lifetime here in TX. I'll be 42 in 2 weeks, so I'll take this as a early B-Day preasent. :froze:

Yeah, true. Lucky for the DFW area, especially the suburbs, they don't have nearly as bad of an issue with trees hanging over powerlines as we do down in Houston or across much of the deep south. In Birmingham in 1993, that 13" record there (18" at our house) caused us to lose power for a full week, cable & phone for two weeks. The fun lasted for a day....and let me tell you it was no fun after that.

As much as I'd love to see a foot of snow down here in Houston, part of me says "no thanks" because it would create massive power outages with all the pine trees and overhead lines we have down here.

That said, I wish I were at my parent's house in Allen for this one. All underground utilities and not really and trees (matures ones) to speak of. They are nice and comfy and just enjoying the view. Hope you all enjoy this - it really is something :-)

OK, no more whining from you folks in Dallas about not enough snow this winter!

Great pics, by the way. That's not really Dallas, it's somewhere in Colorado, right? ;-)

Just let 'em get enough to break the seasonal record (less than 2" away now at DFW) and I'm sure everyone will be ready to start -removed- you a nice warm spring! :D

Stay safe Orange. Those pictures remind me of my days in Raleigh, North Carolina. I still had to drive in it to go to work. You know Avis never closes...LOL

You can post them in here. I just meant if you have a ton of them, and for better viewing so they don't get lost in this thread, you might want to post them there as well.

The more pics, the better! :)
