Got SLAMMED hard. The thick red line just past through. It rained like Niagra falls for half hour.

We're getting slapped around pretty good here.
Gusts easily above 40 MPH, frequent lightning.

And with the way the squall line is rolling through we'll probably be in the heavy stuff for at least another hour.

After the convective weather is done, SPC won't be through with us yet. Critical fire weather danger for parts of northern Florida today and tomorrow

When it was all said and finally done our rain total was 3-3/4".

No damage as far as I can tell by us but lots all around us.

I feel for the people in the south that are driving through that mess this morning.

You nailed it. Good job. There are loads of severe weather statements being issued for metro SE FL (western communities so far) with the most impressive line of convection I have seen in many years for this time of year. Let's see if the line holds together or if it weakens some by the time it gets to the coast. Probably won't weaken alot (perhaps the best upper-level dynamics are over the Lake O region).

The wrath of El Nino continues.....

Holy crap!!! Last night was AMAZING! This coming from the lightning capital of the US, I have NEVER seen that much lightning in my life. There were 2 hours last night where there was constant close lightning. It was so constant, at times it looked like the middle of the day. My power went out last night at 10:50pm, and it wasnt restored until 4am. A transformer blew up (literally) on the other side for the street and scared the crap out of me because at that time it wasn't raining very hard. The next few hours were amazing. Torrential rains, and quite a bit of wind. I pulled out the hurricane kit when the power went out, and we very much used it. When the wx radio said I was under a tornado watch and then a severe thunderstorm warning it was not raining, but by 12:15 or so it was blinding to walk outside because of the lightning. An SVR warning very much warranted!

Overall, last night was a huge learning experience for me.

Localized damage was reported from the storms last night...trees and power lines down.

Never lost our power here though.

Huge thunder crash woke me up at 5 AM or so.

Those Nino troughs are still rolling in on us from the CONUS. 68* is a chilly temperature for this time of year.

but by Saturday high
pressure is forecast to be well established across the region
through the weekend into early next week with stable weather
conditions and seasonably warm temperatures.

Personally I think the UL trough or low will leave a tail of moisture on Saturday. With showers at least through Saturday. I'm hoping for a nice weekend. But I guess I'm hexing it.

It's strange how this patch of low-level cumulus just keeps hanging around metro SE FL and the rest of the state is in the clear:

At 2:27AM, Miami temperature 80 degrees, 85% humidity, dewpoint 75 degrees

Amazing lack of temperature variability the last couple days. It is muggy out there right now. Only thing helping is a stiff SE breeze.

Preliminary low temp in Miami (at MIA) last night was 79 deg! If verified, that would be a record high minimum for the date.

Yeah, we had a jump to muggyness that was a few weeks early here too. Strong south wind from the tropics.

(Record cold and record warm, can you say global warming?)
