Here is a link to a report on an M.I.T. study which evaluated the effectiveness of Aluminum Foil Headgear (A.K.A Tin Foil Hats) in preventing government or extraterrestrial mind control.

Long thought to be in the realm of pseudoscience or even paranoia, the M.I.T. Study gives considerable respectability to the issue. The study yielded inconclusive results, stating that "some frequencies are attenuated, while others are amplified", and that the frequencies that are amplified are those reserved for military use. Another site criticizes the M.I.T. study, saying that it is seriously flawed.

I was personally amazed when I stumbled upon this issue. There is a tremendous amount of information about this on the internet. Wikipedia has an fairly balanced article on this subject.
