Re: 2010 Tropical Cyclone Reports
It will be very interesting to read the reports of many of the systems as there were many twists and turns regarding intensity. For example, the Tomas report should have changes at best track when it was just east of the Windwards as I think it was a bit more stronger than what the advisories had, especially when you see the extensive damage in some of the islands.
Which report(s) are the peeps wanting to see the most?

Very short-lived system. May have not even been identified had it formed away from a coastal area. RECON played a crucial role, like with TD 2.

You can see all the reports as they are released on the first post of thread. They are doing the easy ones first.

Makes sense since they can get the most done in the quickest. Bonnie and Gaston seem like good candidates for the next ones.

Re: 2010 Tropical Cyclone Reports=Lisa / Gaston up at first post
TS Gaston report is at first post of thread. Here in Puerto Rico, we were worried by it as the track was going to be a threat, but resulted in a wimpy system.

This part of the report caught my eye about why it never was a tropical storm.
The 35-kt estimated peak intensity of Gaston is based on a blend of subjective Dvorak classifications and ASCAT data. The peak intensity is lower than suggested by Dvorak alone because ASCAT data indicated that those estimates, in general, were too high. The ASCAT data suggest a peak intensity of 30-35 kt, and it is possible that Gaston never attained tropical storm strength. The time of the analyzed peak was also shifted forward in time from operational estimates to better conform with the ASCAT data.

Re. Gaston possibly not being a tropical storm, it wouldn't be the first time it's happened if it had been posthumously downgraded:

Scroll to page 10, lower right corner
Even wondered why it goes from Judith to Lois with no K storm in 1966? Because one other supposed storm, Kendra, was determined not to even be a tropical storm! Could Gaston be another one of these in a future post-analysis, ala HURDAT?

Re: 2010 Tropical Cyclone Reports
They admit Gaston probably wasn't a TS but keep the peak winds at 35kts? Why? It appears the 2010 count was 18/12/5 and not 19/12/5.

Seems like Gaston had no gas!! LOL

First image as a tropical storm based on Best Track ... I give Gaston the benefit of the doubt although I wouldn't be surprised to find out it was just a depression.

The report says possibly, not probably. Important distinction.
