Precip has just about ended in Weatherford. Enjoy it before it ends.

There is nothing enjoyable about being outside right now. I can't imagine it being worse!

Well the Fox 4 Met in Dallas just said "Significant snow possible later this week around Austin"

You know I realize Jerry Jones is very vain, but how did he manage to get Dallas to feel like home for the visiting football teams?

It seems the consensus recently from models late week has about 1-2 inches for areas from SA to East Texas, maybe even the Corpus area. Temp will be very close along the coast but I think it should do it. Portastorm seems to be too far inland for a lot of moisture, but will be cold enough there!

What do you need for a blizzard warning to be issued? I swear I would hate to be in one if it's worse then it is outside right now.

Yep, blizzard conditions in Denton atm. But it's not going to last for 3+ straight hours so doesn't meet criteria in that regards.

Ok, so I posted this the other day and no one commented on it. I was wondering, is it safe to say that the GFS sniffed this storm out back on the 21st? I mean it almost got the temps right. Thoughts?

I remember 2/4/1996. I went duck hunting on Cooper Lake that morning (it was calm). We broke 1/8-1/4" inch of ice with the boat in the pre-dawn. We camped in tents the night before.

Yep, GFS sniffed out the arctic blast 300+ hours out. We followed it as it showed a storm somewhere in the southern plains. ECMWF was the first to show brutal temperatures. Both lagged behind the Ensembles which gave hints of craziness for the start of new month well in advance.
Snow is coming down with vengeance Dallas proper west this morning finally. Probably an inch or two.

Good morning everyone.
We have easily 2-3 inches of accumulation on the ground with sleet/snow mix falling. All schools in the area closed

NWS has adjusted temps again, most of North Texas won't hit 20 tomorrow

Looks like GFS MOS numbers might verify. DFW will be lucky to get higher than 15.

I am thinking with all of this snow and ice around night time temps might need to be lowered a little? It's going to be really cold the next few days. I hope people planned for this stuff.

Amazing air mass folks. Oh, and we've been tracking this since the 17th of January, for the record. Just dropped 24 degrees from 68F to 43F in 10 minutes here in NW Harris County. Had a gust to 43 as well.

Bundle up and protect those plants in SE Texas! Late week has certainly trended much more interesting for our friends down that way.
