Will the Houston area probably be put under a Winter Storm Warning or Watch? If so, how early would those be issued? (trying to figure out if school will be out this week!)

what I am wondering about is the winds are not likely to die down until sometime tomorrow so CAA might be kept in check tonight. 25F might not be to far off tonight.....

this storm didnt really hit my area like I had hoped, but some of you really nailed the timing of the precip/freezing line for Waco. All that said, I DID get the day off which to me is better than the snow or ice is any day...well, maybe.

Thanks for all of the contributions yall!!!

Today is Tuesday...we wont know until maybe late tomorrow how all of this will play out. Have a good idea now but its a wait and see thing. IMO, Watch on Thursday am....followed by a warning by nightfall....JMO

I wouldn't want to be caught on these roads on Thu/Fri...this city has so many idiot drivers.

I have to pin my snow hopes on the Canadian. Great, just great!

Think it's getting close to time to shut down the Portastorm Weather Center winter storm forecast office due to lack of business. Four years now since we've had a winter event in this town which truly shut down everything.

I know we have the current cold and the potential snow for southern Texas on Friday, but what is the latest on the second arctic blast for next week? Anyone care to chime in? :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold:

I feel your pain. I have even less chance seeing something late week & I missed out today also.

Canadians know cold weather, but don't know much about hurricanes.... :)

I guess that answers my question about trusting the Canadian, guess I won't expect much.

Lol I know! I can't complain though. I stayed up and got to fight the sleet and snow. Uploading video from the night now.

Two places...1st place is that huge body of water known as the Pacific. 700mb flow will be sucking in Pacific moisture...moistening up the column. 2nd place is the Gulf. The low will throw plenty of moisture in.

This is very similar to Christmas 2004...but perhaps with a little more moisture available...and colder temps (so a higher ratio).

AFM are you buying the latest GFS showing less moisture for friday.
