Does any1 else see 2 waves passing here? I'm assuming the 1st is the actual cold front. The next is the actual cold air. Any1 concur?

I'm not going to be the first to throw out the B word.... but it's awfully late in the game for these trends to be unfounded.

I think that is just some elevated echo associated with the moisture return.

Wednesday: Rain before 3pm, then rain or freezing rain likely. Temperature falling to around 30 by 3pm. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Breezy, with a north wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected.

I'm not going to be the first to throw out the B word.... but it's awfully late in the game for these trends to be unfounded.

The models have always trended the precip north. They are not seeing how the surface low will be affected by the GoMex.

The front is not making much eastward progress. Right now the front is roughly along a line from Baird-Woodson-Olney-Windthorst-Ringgold. Moving SE at perhaps 15 miles/hour. At this speed, it would be daylight tomorrow morning before it got to the metroplex but I expect it might pick up speed during the night.

it hasn't moved very far east all day. It arrived in Midland before Childress. Once the upper low ejects into the plains and the surface cyclone follows, the front will blast south and east.

That is faster than it was moving.... It was crawling at 8-10 mph east earlier..

depends on what station you watch, channel 8's Pete Delkus is talking now and still preaching the 2-4", 3-5" range for metro area and northward.
There is pleanty of moisture to work with once it all comes together, just think last Friday....

Because of the ice and sleet expected as well it appears.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL
VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

because "impact" can trump the base criteria for a winter storm warning. Two inches of snow and 30 mph winds has more impact than 4 inches of snow with light winds. Wind driven snow can bring any location to a stand still and is far more dangerous to travelers. thus...a warning instead of advisory.
