So far two tornado warnings where I live and I'm stuck here in Tampa at work.

First round of severe this morning hubby was at home - said everything looked to be o.k., except for water seeping in the sidelights. Great

* crosses fingers and prays that the severe is done for the day*

We are under a tornado watch here in PBC through 1pm, but it doesn't look like those storms are migrating southward very fast.

That's one heck of a rotation that went through Tampa and very close to downtown Tampa.

Central Fl. had some wild weather. Here in S. Fl.. Nothing yet. From the looks of the radar loop and sat. loops. It will be after dark down here. Might not be much of a punch after dark. Have to wait and see.

Here in New Port Richey, the rotation went over the house at 630a and the roar was so loud, the house was shaking. Lightning bolts just kept coming down all day. I have 5.51" in my gauge from today alone, over 1" yesterday, and 3.40" on Monday. This is our dry season. Getting to work was an adventure because there was so much flooding, cars were stalled everywhere. What a wild weather day. but Ive lived here since 1988 and seen my share. The tornadoes were also long tracked, rare for us.

The pic of the tilted semi was taken by the friend of our IT tech at work. He posted it on our intranet today. Wild!

Since Monday we have measured 9.05" of rain. I'm sure that total is low due to the wind - wouldn't surprise me to be over 10".

Definitely a wild ride at the high school today - the tornado warning was during the student lunches.

CRAZY day in central Florida. My parents had damage to their house in St. Pete. With the winds blowing one of our palm trees into our awning on our front porch. They also had a very overflowing pool to worry about.

I don't think South Florida is going to get in on any of this action. That line is sagging southward slowly, and weakening as it does so.

NWS Miami's forecast for today turned out to be a real bust. They originally mentioned the possibility for severe weather during the afternoon, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky for most of the day. Plus, they missed on just how hot it was going to get. I heard quite a few unofficial reports of temperatures well into the 90s, and I believe them. That was a hot SSW wind blowing today.

i mentioned a severe threat on monday but good grief...this was a crazy event. tracking a tornadic couplet from off shore to pinellas county to offshore brevard county was something. and that tornado touched down in areas i frequent...i observed damage this evening off of roosevelt blvd near st pete clearwater airport. the rainfall has also been nuts. i got 3.5" monday. today the cup runneth over. i don't know how much i got but it was more than 6" and radar estimates show some areas of north pinellas got more than 8". i know i got at least 6" but probably less than 8". still...getting 10"+ in that period of time? it would be noteworthy even in the heart of the rainy season. at this time of the year it is unprecedented. there is standing water everywhere. it looks like a tropical storm has moved through. i crossed a small culvert this evening that is frequently dry this time of year and was just a week ago. tonight you could shoot it with a whitewater kayak.
