Okay I may get burned on this but this looks like the old duck saying. You know the one that goes like this. If it looks like a duck, walks like.....well you know the rest.

Your question isn't dumb at all, pricetag56. In fact, it's on all of our minds!

Not sure what you mean by "major threat." Right now it is not a very large system. However, several of our pro meteorologists here suggest it *could* eventually strengthen to hurricane status.

Do you have something that shows that?

Yeah, where do you see that because I can't find it anywhere, Cuban Met site does not show their pressure reading.
But I have a good feeling that is a bad reading, buoy a lot closer to the COC only shows 1010 mb pressure.

I have just found a west wind reading at 25 knots from a ship nearby:

http://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-time/s ... 000&loop=0

1011 mb pressure, winds west northwest @ 25 knots...looks believable to me...

I think that's from early afternoon and it's suspect. Maybe just a localized storm.

I don't think it's accurate. NOAA buoy nearby has a nearly calm wind. Plus, the ship is reporting waves coming from the southeast (140 deg). And that same ship was reporting a SE wind at 20 kts the hour before. I suspect they encoded the wind direction wrong and it's really a SE wind, 180 degrees off.

I'm really hoping that this system gives south central TX at least an inch or two of rain. The drive home from College Station to SA was awfully dry and brown.

I trust the Euro the most right now. It has shown the best consistency imo.

Any thoughts on what the NHC will give this at 8PM? I'd say anywhere between 40%-60%.

This is legit, having fun tracking this one. The forward speed has definitely decreased. It was booking through the Eastern Carribean which is probably why it never really developed.

Convergence/Divergence definitely seems to be improving and aligning.
