And our drought continues with no relief in sight as Don disappoints and goes too far south to give us any relief.
This is so frustrating...

You're being too kind South Texas Storms ... the words I'm coming up with, well ... I can't write them or I'd be booted off S2K!
The hopes of millions of people have been dashed once again ... and really, I don't think I'm exaggerating or being too dramatic. If you combine the AUS-SAT areas alone, you get several million folks and I know many folks were hoping Don would give us some relief.

I feel the exact same way Portastorm. I'm just using PG rated words to describe my anger with this drought that just won't end. I was reading the first pages of this thread and wow what a turnaround. We couldn't stop getting rain when this thread was created and now we can't catch a drop.

Portastorm from June 2007 wrote:Looks like more rain on the way with a persistant shear zone overahead. Interesting to note that here in Austin, we're 8.82 inches above normal rainfall for the year. Also interesting to note that every year the Spurs have won the NBA title, a hurricane has hit Texas!
And Humberto did hit in 2007!
Can the Mavericks repeat the magic?

Interesting you should re-post my note, somethingfunny. I'm pretty certain that after that period of above-normal rainfall, we descended into this drought-ridden hell. The only period of excessive rainfall I can recall between now and then happened briefly last summer with Hermine. Very interesting indeed.

DFW in danger of the consecutive streak being broken today. Currently 28 days in a row, but forecasted high is only 99 for today. With the next week looking over 100, we can get close to the record of 42. I say we go for it. Everyone in DFW needs to go outside and turn their gas grills to high and leave them open. If we can't beat the heat, then join it!
Yes, I've lost my mind.

I see I'm not the only one!
If it's gonna be hot...especially as hot as we're going to be next week....we better keep the streak intact, break some records if nothing else interesting happens!

In other news it looks like Texas is going to be baking this coming week. GFS&Euro both show 100+ weather for the work week and spilling until the weekend for much of the state. I know its hard to imagine but IMO this is going to be the hottest temperature the state has endured this summer.
Looking ahead to August the CFS and ECMWF Monthly Forecast, calls for below normal rainfall thru the month

99 degrees at 4:11. I don't know if we're gonna make it. Where's Jerry Jones to start talking all that hot air when we need him? Crud he's in San Antonio. Mark Cuban will do. C'mon Mark!

Maybe we can start a new state marketing slogan like:
TEXAS: This century's Sonoran Desert
or
TEXAS: Sick of rain? Come see us!
