I moved everything close to the door so I could bring it in AFTER I get one last workout in before my weight room becomes the land of refugee patio furniture...but may have to bring it in sooner, stuff is starting to get tossed around out there. Winds really seem to be picking up since this morning.

Just waiting for the little one to fall asleep for nap so I can clear his toys from the balconies. All electronics are on their chargers and then all that's left is finagling both cars inside the garage and we'll be ready. Well we also have to get nutella. It's just not appropriate to bug in without nutella.

the mood in okinawa must be exciting but nervousing at the same time. i know because living in guam, we get hit many times. we get to drive around and watch people shelter up and buy groceries like us. its really fun but soon it gets serious when the storm arrives...

The people and businesses around our house haven't done anything yet...Maybe they are waiting until tomorrow. I was looking at a fence down by our parking lot...and I just know that fence is not going to survive if the storm is anywhere near as bad as they were saying it will be. I'm not nervous or scared at all. Just kind of mellow. Maybe when I see the locals around me going nuts, then I'll feel that way, too.

Thanks! If there's anywhere to be during a night time typhoon it's Okinawa since the lights often stay on thus allowing filming. Nothing worse than being stuck in pitch black with all hell breaking loose around you!

Looks like the southern porition of the island is going to get the brunt of this...

How many people live on Okinawa, looks quite populated looking at google earth?

1,392,503 is the population - not sure if that includes US military or not. The southern half of the island is the most densely populated part.

I live about 15 miles from the southern tip of the island looking at Google Earth. Naha is just to the south of where we live and it's the area with the most inhabitants (also where James happens to be, right now). I think Stormy is further north of me and we have another S2K member, rthschld (If I'm spelling that right), up that way, too, as well as angelisagemini. We'll have a pretty good reporting range on conditions if everyone is able to keep checking in, though we may lose the folks who live on the military bases. The bases are notorious for losing power. I live off base and have never fully lost power before (though I have lost internet). I'm off to bed for the night because tomorrow could be a long one. Have a good day/evening everyone!

LOL - it's redheadedstepchild boiled down - and we're at Kadena, roughly the middle of the island, about 6mi inland from the west coast, and about 150ft elevation or so...I'll let you know what we're seeing. Right now, spritzing here and there and windy, but nothing of what I was expecting to wake up to, and nothing what you would expect looking at where we are in the "banding" areas on the sat view. Interesting...just called back to the states to let family know if we're out of touch for a few days, no worries...I don't have much faith in the cable/phone provider here

Doh! LOL - Why didn't I see that? My screen name is misspelled. 99% of the time, I'm a pretty good typist. The ONE time I make a big typo is when I enter in a screen name. Figures!

The Okinawan factories around me are still in operation. People are still working out there! The Okinawan lady next door was outside tending her garden a little while ago like nothing was wrong. Perhaps the funniest thing is my husband sitting outside working on a guitar he is building because I complain about the sawdust in the house.
