Checking in from St. Maarten.

Tied up some extra lines. Getting squally. Our ships cat is the best meteorologist on this side of the earth. He doesn't like this at all and is trying to find the safest place on board. Strangely he want to be on the fly-bridge and not in the cabin. I guess I have to have a talk with him and persuade him to get in before I close everything down :D

sounds like our dog - she wants to hide in a corner on the patio when we have a storm - really weird! Good luck to you and thanks for the update!

And thanks cycloneye!

Thanks my friends. Nothing special to report. Winds are calm but looking at our radar looks like some squalls are beginning to moving close to Guadeloupe. I will keep you informed as usual and as possible.

Hi Barbara,

I'm alone with the cat (my wife is visiting family in Denmark) so I found refugee in the Simpson Bay Marina. Lagoon is fine up to now. I think we can expect some TS force winds tonight and tomorrow. The lagoon is a good place to be. The only problem in the lagoon is the old wrecks anchored there. You can secure the boat as best as you can but when a corroded badly anchored wreck start moving you are lost. I experienced that with Omar. People had secured their boats but were grounded by free floating objects.

As expected, we didn't get much from this: Somewhat showery and occasionally thundery weather for most of the day but nothing serious.

Hi Abajan,
Good to hear you missed out on young Irene. Been watching out for a Bajan report as if it gets to you, it normally makes its way here next! No rain or wind here but lightning out to sea low down on the horizon from the WSW area of the storm. Hoping our friends in Dominica are ok after this given their recent problems with rain, the dam and loss of roads. Good luck to you all in the Leewards tonight. To Gusty, be safe!!

Hi Chris!
Good to see you on the board again.
Still feel sorry we didn't meet in Rodney Bay after Tomas. I guess St.Lucia will not have too many problems with Irene.

Hi,
Here, it's very quiet. Last weather report in TV said it's just rain and a little wind for martinique, for the end of the night, more like tropical wave. The worst is for Guadeloupe and Dominique. Take care.

Quiet weather here in Les Abymes, central Guadeloupe (2 miles from PTP/TFFR airport)

Very light wind from the norm (as per the clouds), no rain since roughly 6PM

National TV announced a tropical wave at the 7:30PM news, but I managed to advise them it was already a TS, and people were informed at the very last minute. I went out some minutes after and many people act like every day (traffic, crowd in supermarkets, peeple planning for parties tonight).

But Meteo France just placed us in a "Heavy rain and Thunderstorms/High winds/Rough sea" warning, and not a single "Storm watch" while all neigouring islands are under Storm Warning. Next local advisory planned for 12AM (but who will listen weather at that time  ????)

I'll be awake all night long to keep you posted 8-)
