Don't know how the Ukie is in the tropics but it can be very good once up to the mid latitudes. I use it heavily for tracking shortwaves.

wouldn't take that much more of a shift west to bring TS conditions to coastal areas of SEFL?

What is a 1 degree shift as far as miles and while I know its just a model, what implication would that have for NC? Small shifts here and there are starting to make all the difference in the world when all of your family lives in eastern NC.

Dynamic Model Guidance 06Z, you can see they are trending eastward some from the 00Z models (image below):

If that GFDL run verifies, my area can expect catastrophic flooding...

The operational GFS and GFDL went west at 06z, there are still some questions to be answered.

12Z models continue to shift east. Now only the 06Z GFDL takes Irene into the Outer Banks. And the GFDL has been too far west for the past week.

Disclaimer: 50% of the time I have no clue of what I am talking about. Chances are I am taking a less than educated guess that sounds good because 10 years ago I stole Mike Watkins book 'The Hurricane and its Impact'. For official information please direct yourself to the NHC and their cadre of weather geniuses.

I'm in far eastern Ontario, Canada now. I'd be about 70 miles west of the center.

The only difference I saw in the NAM was the second shortwave kicker was not as strong as the 6z where it closed it off. No difference down here in VA but it could effect the solution north of here.
