Not only is he an idiot, but he's spreading false information. He just said that the storm still might strengthen before NC landfall. Great.

well technically it could....

Once I see the REDS and GREENS Converge on a Base Velocity. ... I'm There!!

This is NOT an Official Forecast....Just my Opinion. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Although a small chance, it could happen. Irene's presentation is looking better on IR at the moment. Still fighting dry air though.

Yes, he has been great. We're listening to him on the radio. As he's reporting he's also directing a college intern working with them on answering everyone's questions on facebook. We met Skip a couple of years ago when our son's scout troop did a tour of the WCTI studios. He was great with the kids and taught them quite a bit. All the tornadoes are crazy. We just had a pretty strong squall come through, but it seems to have calmed down for a few now.

I am concerned for those up north as well, this storm does not seem to be fooling around, as we have taken considerable flooding and damage already being as how we are just in the outer bands.
You guys up north please take this seriously.

I do hope you weather the storm well. I to hope you never have to return the wishes. I do think some are taking it seriously, though some is not alway good enough

mature trees will do that to you....especially if they havent been trimmed.....trees are going to fall on power lines...nothing at this hour we can do about it...good luck out there NC...I pray you got resources to last.....during IKE I had to drive 30 miles south just to find a gas station...

Couldn't agree more! :(

I am watching where the tornadoes seem to be and looks like most are north. I forgot about the tornadoes.....damn the tornadoes! Wait, that's torpedoes. Oh well.

Just another thing to worry about in all of this.

Been married 25 years. I know that formula all too well :-) I absolutely hate tornados. they don't have the common courtesy to let you know when to expect them.

Mind of their own, just like CATS! :ggreen:

He has been doing weather at that station for almost 30 years. He has a lot of local knowlege, and he does not mind telling what he thinks is going to happen even if it flies in the face of what the NWS says. He will give you the "official" forcast, then tell you what he thinks might happen. Sometimes he is wrong, but usually he is right. He was saying this thing would probably come into Bogue banks several days ago when the models were still going east of Hatteras. You have to admire someone that does not mind sticking his neck out when he thinks he needs to.

The one small positive is that Irene has not been able to maintain a strong inner core through out the day as well as having to deal with the entrainment of dry air being drawn into the circulation from the southeastern U.S.. The dry air can clearly be seen in WV images:

Yes, he has been great. We're listening to him on the radio. As he's reporting he's also directing a college intern working with them on answering everyone's questions on facebook. We met Skip a couple of years ago when our son's scout troop did a tour of the WCTI studios. He was great with the kids and taught them quite a bit. All the tornadoes are crazy. We just had a pretty strong squall come through, but it seems to have calmed down for a few now.

He's very good.

Now he's saying it may make landfall just north of Cape Lookout. Now where did Isabel make landfall again? hmmmmm.......

Dang, just lost sat again. Guess I should be thankful my power is still on though.
