The link above is the daily weather archives i used to look at the weather for those years and WOW, there were some big cold out breaks for those years. These dates are the dates i recorded for interest.

The 00z GFS is showing the lowest min at 40F over the next 16 days. If we don't get a freeze in the next 7 days, we'll be behind schedule! :(

I'd be doing cartwheels here if that was my current temperature. :wink: Pray for cooler temps with rain instead.
If even 1/2 of my winter's upcoming cold *really* makes it down there you folks will have all your pipes freeze and you can't afford to lose water to that.

Man, this coming system early next week that's supposed to bring plenty of rain to Texas looks nice. If this were a month later boy would it be fun, cutoff low with a strong subtropical jet right under it right off Cal. It's the perfect storm for snow here in Texas (if it were colder), but it's warmer now so good soaking rains probable.

Oh, how I miss those types of storms Ntxw! Actually, heavy rainfall would help with our drought situation a lot more than snowfall would right now. We need the rains to soak into the ground as much as they can!

It doesn't show much, but the important thing to get from the latest runs is that a well established cold pool will begin to dominate western Canada and Alaska. Long range modelling is not always reliable for details. Will have to track what the PNA and NAO decides to do as these mechanisms will be the key to unlocking the flood gates as the higher latitudes are loading up. Right now low pressures have been tracking through the bering straits which isn't favorable, we'd like to see them head towards the Aleutians.

Even though it is over 10 days away, today's 12z GFS agrees with you Ntxw. It shows a strong cold front moving through Texas right around Thanksgiving. It could happen!

Nothing too terribly exciting in either the 0z GFS or Euro. Variable pattern. The big "switch" around Thanksgiving looks questionable now doesn't it?

Meanwhile, I'm hoping we can net at least a quarter of an inch of rain on Monday from this next fropa. We (Austin) have been stiffed the last few fropas.
