That is true.. there are other boards that really don't appreciate their members as much as this one does. I am surprised at the level of arrogance and disrespect other boards allow from their members and even their moderators. I have to say I've been a member of this board for about 10 years and I always come back every year.

:uarrow: Welcome! Congrats on making the plunge! :D

I spy with my little eye 353 guests in this forum, and 476 altogether on the board, that have yet to join. As Dora the Explorer would say, come on everyone, let's go! What are you waiting for? An open invitation? :cheesy: :cheesy:

 Perhaps you should listen to this first:

If that doesn't convince you to come join us, then I give up!

Hello from Port Arthur, Texas.

Best of luck to everyone along the coast.

Thanks for the great site, please keep up the good work.

Do y'all have some kind of sticky to help people learn about the acronyms used so often on the boards.

It's the one titled "S2K Weather Acronyms" (obviously  ). If it is not in there, and you have a question, just feel free to ask!

I'm pretty far inland in central Arkansas, but I have checked this web site off and on for many years. Thanks for the invite. Ham radio operator and have taken the NWS tornado spotter classes a number of times. Hoping that Isaac helps to alleviate our drought but doesn't bring nasty twisters! :D

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I just learned about it a day or so ago from someone who has hung out here for a while. (I learned about it from her on another forum about a completely different subject in a thread in which we were discussing the weather.) Today seemed like an auspicious day to join since I am in the path of Hurricane Sandy and may lose my Internet connection before much more time passes.

I do not watch television unless there is a hurricane or a big snowstorm coming. For that I pay for cable TV! The only problem is that some storms knock out my cable connection. Usually not the snowstorms, however. Sandy is making a great deal of noise outside my widow now as I type. I am on the coast of Connecticut and the hurricane has not yet hit here. The water in ponds connected to Long Island Sound is very, very high already, though. I have lived here all my life and never seen it so high.

I am a strictly amateur weather watcher, but I did study some physical geography back in college so if I can dredge some knowledge out of my memory, I may be able to follow some of your discussions! I am hoping I will be able to do so, at least!

Thank you for accepting me as a member.
