Could be worse! Try 105 and dryness! It's time we plan a move to Mars since heat is going to dominate the earth forevermore! Sometimes we just got to take what mother natures gives us, we can't control just take it in stride
Kidding aside, it's really blustery outside. Was playing some tennis and the front passage wasn't that bad until recently. Teens are definitely possible west of I-35 and northern counties tonight.
Front is currently heading for Central Texas. I'm sure the PWC mets are awaiting arrival with plenty of joy!

What's intriguing to me is that a few of the recent HRRR runs show the shortwave pulling in more moisture from the southwest, it appears.

Here is the 21z of the HRRR in question.

Edit: Each run has trended wetter with a good band of precip so maybe someone will get lucky!

Re: Texas Winter 2012-2013
The cold front has passed through the Portastorm Weather Center. Temps dropping into the mid 60s now. I didn't expect too much drama with this fropa but I am disappointed to not get any rain. About two hours ago, I saw some healthy cumulus buildups to our west. Got my hopes up ... and ... nothing.
SouthernMet's post certainly has piqued my curiosity though for my friends in North Texas.

I think that's showing snowfall rates, it would be 1-2 inch per hour rate is what it's showing. Or maybe I'm wrong and it's showing 2 inches on the ground for that hour?

Re: Texas Winter 2012-2013
The 23Z HRRR run looks even better than all of the previous runs! It shows a good about of moisture getting pulled northward into north Texas and southern Oklahoma ahead of this shortwave. It even appears that some weak convection may get pulled into this system. Keep in mind that's if the 23Z run were to verify.

There is some STJ moisture plume in Mexico. Perhaps this is what the HRRR is seeing since most of its runs is depicting the band to form from the SW in the big bend area?

I think so! I was just talking to my roommate about that moisture moving overhead from the southwest. Hmmm..Thoughts? The HRRR was the model that picked up on that one shortwave which dumped snow across north Texas back in like January 2010; the system which had the "Colorado-like" snow. Not too sure of the exact date.
