When the front came through the Spring Branch area the temp went from 80f to 60f within 10 minutes and kept right on going. I saw at least a 3 degree drop in 5 minutes at one point. We are currently at 49f with mist.

False Spring of 2013 continues...
Protect those plants if you aren't in big cities in North Texas, very close to freezing for many areas, if not frost. South and southeast Texas will have clouds and some wind so they should be ok down that way, won't feel any less cold though. If the Euro is any bit correct, there's yet another cold spell looming. However the AO is now positive so I'm not too sure how legit that is.

Pretty amazing cold spell, almost historic.
Steve LaNore, chief met at KXII-TV Channel 12 says record low overnight for Sherman/Denison is 34 degrees. It's going to be at or just below that mark in the morning.
He tweeted to me that the latest freeze ever recorded in Sherman/Denison was on April 15, 1928 when it dipped to 29 degrees. So this is most likely a "Top 3" cold event in the region for so late in the year.
Pretty amazing to be flirting with freezing nearly half-way through April!

Re: Texas Winter 2012-2013
Relative to averages, these last few fronts have been significant. Too bad we couldn't have gotten in on this action back in January or February. Then we really would have had a Winter of Wxman57's Discontent! Oh well ...

Mother Nature doesn't want you to have an abrupt change of weather when you leave the Lone Star State for Norway. You wouldn't want 90s here and then go into 30s and 40s, would ya?!
