Well, if I didn't know any better, it does looks like that a weak surface reflection is trying to form directly in the Florida Straits, just north of the northern coast of Cuba. It is drifting very slowly west.

Re: Cutoff ULL in Bahamas
This feaure is starting to get a little more interesting.

5 day of 200 mb vorticity loop

Pressures are slowly dropping along the SE coast of Fla. and the ULL is fading. It looks to me like the weak LL voricity is moving west across the southern tip of Fla with the fading ULL droping to the SW.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the remnants of Chantal and this feature.

I agree. The ULL in the Florida Straits early this morning continues to look rather vigorous. It actually is still trying to get a reflection at the surface.
I am getting more curious also in that Chantal's remnants are rapidly approaching this entity. I am just wondering if there is a possibility that some type of interaction may occur. The ULL feature has essentially moved extremely slow the past 36 hours. It has not moved to the west at the speed the models initially had it the past couple of days.
EDIT: Title of this thread should be called now ULL or Disturbed area in Florida Straits.

Re: Cutoff ULL in Bahamas
IDK if this should be a new thread or not but T-storms are really firing off this morning off the SE coast of Fla.

850 mb vorticity is increasing across the extreme southern tip of the Florida peninsula. The disturbance down in the Straits is definitely trying to attain a surface reflection. Also, it is not moving very much, if at all right now. This feature may indeed interact with whatever is left of Chantal since it has not gone as forecast to continue W-W/NW as the models had shown 48-72 hours ago.
