More Northward Track?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

#1 Postby chris_fit » Thu Sep 11, 2003 12:19 am

Izzy apears to be wobbling more to the north last few frames eh? Any comments or reasons? Is this more than a wobble?

You're gonna find a lot of wobbles with a storm of this intensity. I think what we're both seeing is maybe the eye "repositioning, also Isabel looks like she is tightening up a bit, that could be another reason behind the little wobble.
Just my very amateur opinion!

nhc discussion saying it would move motion just north of due west. why they didn't say possibly because of the ull still to the west. in any even it does mean it will be at a higher latitude than previous thought 5 days from now and when/IF it encounters a weakness or weaker ridge towrds the west around 70w-80w it will probably move even more to the north

Hello Chris and welcome to Storm2K. Glad to have you join us. :D

The general movement of Hurricane Isabel is due west. The current forecast is for this movement to continue with an eventually turn more to the WNW (again) which may lead to a Florida peninsula landfall.

All moderate to especially intense hurricanes wobble at least to some degree.

So, I believe that there will be wobble and some slightly north of due west movement until either the ridge breaks down some and/or the trough to the storm's west pick up speed.

Thanks for the welcome ColdFront!

Just switched to Meteorology Major @ Florida Tech in Melbourne! You'll be seeing more of me here for sure! Maybe I'll get a chance to do a little studying of this storm if it approaches my area. What would be the chances of that? I know it's still far out but I'm still curious

Cheers!

Nice, Chris!

My brother Chris lives in Melbourne, he attended graduate school at West Virginia University, after graduating from the a state college in the town we grew up in in Massachusetts.

I spent a week in early March and a week late last month in Melbourne. Nice city there. :)
