Cat 5 for sure at 5 pm right?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Cat 5 for sure at 5 pm right?

#1 Postby rob8303 » Thu Sep 11, 2003 1:52 pm

This will be upgraded to a category 5 at 5 pm right?
BTW, do you think the NHC is feeling more concerned about this storm than it has any other storm since Floyd or....even Andrew?
How well do you think NHC forecasters (who don't have to work overnight) are sleeping knowing this storm is out there?

They SHOULD upgrade it, but they probably won't.

Cat 5 for sure!!!

SirCane I think she is a cat 5 for sure. If not, then I'm getting out of the hurricane tracking business, O.K. maybe I won't go to that extreme.

Cat 4

#6 Postby wxman57 » Thu Sep 11, 2003 3:17 pm

Probably they will call it a Cat 4 with 135kt winds at 4pm CDT, though it may well be a Cat 5 now. The NHC may wait for recon tomorrow. Here's a new shot of it using McIDAS:
