Finally had our first hard freeze last night. Got down to 26F. This follows a small dusting of snow Tuesday night which was the earliest I have ever seen it snow since I moved here in 1996. Hopefully it is a sign of much more to come.

I'm shocked this thread hasn't been more active the past week. Hoping this snowy weather trend continues :D

How far in the deep south are you talking here? Maps? Prediction estimates?

this TX storm looks to be real. It's either a foot of snow, a couple inches of sleet, or half an inch of freezing rain.

Should we start a thread in TX winter discussion?

The Texas threads are divided into 3 month seasons. There is a fall thread going on that is all about the potential storm right now. We do have a winter thread going but that won't likely get productive posts until December comes around for DJF

Here is the fall thread

Interesting, the low in the western Gulf appears pretty impressive this morning, seeing 35kt winds in the cold air from some of the buoys off the southern TX Coast!

That low is really ramping up. Is that the one expected to move up the coast Tuesday thru Thursday?

By the way, Monday morning is expected to be record breaking for us at least which probably means much of the southeast too. Low of 19F will shatter our old record. :cold:

I thought so at first but evidently not. The low is expected to develop Monday in the western Gulf according to the NWS in Mobile, AL. I haven't been paying much attention to all the models.

Was cold this morning, about 36F but the wind made it feel in the 20's. Still expecting lows down near 20 tonight. :cold:

I've been here watching the maps...just don't post much because I'm not a meteorologist or even a knowledgable amateur...

Seems like things are getting started early this year; not sure I believe the prediction for a cold, dry winter (in AL).

Low was 23F this morning. :cold:

Didn't get as cold as they thought it would. Only got to 26F at my house, 24F at the airport.
