I do know that I've been looking at WV Loops recently & the SJT is still open for business. It actually still looks decent right now. Even the pipeline looks intact.

I see the STJ is definitely open for business and I also see that shortwave digging down the Pacific coast. So, with the talk from the south Texas WFOs about some mild coastal trough development, I wonder if that is going to be spurred by this digging Pacific shortwave. As we talked about earlier this week, coastal low or trough development in the winter is often dictated by upper level energy traversing the state from west to east. Is it this particular shortwave which is supposed to help create the overrunning?

Seeking some advice from those in the metroplex. My brother returns from a cruise tomorrow in Galveston and his home is in Little Elm. Any chance road conditions will be good enough for him to make it to the end of the Tollway @ 380 in Frisco/Little Elm? Or do you guys think conditions will still be horrible then? He is considering a hotel or staying in my neck of the woods between Tyler and Lufkin if roads are too treacherous. What's yalls thoughts on road conditions in metroplex and specifically Frisco/Little Elm area.

As far as the shortwave, I'm concerned that it will not dig far enough south to have much impact on us, but I could be wrong.

I just finished running a few errands in North Dallas and thought the roads were fine. There is still a sleet pack, but there are grooves on the main roads that are dry. So long as you are cautious, I see no problems.

It's not going to get much better. Highs tomorrow in DFW will be lucky to make 25. What you see out there is going to refreeze tonight and pretty much stay, with clouds staying tomorrow the sun won't help much. It won't completely clear out until likely Tuesday or even Wednesday. Bridges and overpasses are still a nightmare even with all the treatment they've been doing. Several 18 wheelers have been stuck and spun blocking entire highways and backing up everyone for hours. I would recommend he stay elsewhere until it is less of a mess. Especially since you are talking Collin county.

As I've been saying for several days if you can avoid North Texas by all means do it. Making small trips a few blocks is not the same as traversing city to city.

Some of my family up in Rockwall county have been without power since 6 in the morning. Hotels are full up in that area.

What part of Rockwall county? I'm very near the Rockwall/Collin county line. We never lost power but we have Farmers Electric Coop and not Oncor. Our friends who lost power are south of I-30.

Just got our power back on. It's 54 in our house. The roads look awful though. I'm just off of Virginia and 75. We watched a car try to get up our slight hill earlier...that didn't go well. So excited to hear my heater blowing though. Looking forward to taking at least 4 of these blankets off soon. I took some good pics that I may try and post later..we'll see.

Anyone from the Greenville/Farmersville area, or know someone from those areas, whom we can get a report on road conditions for 380? Specifically the bridge over Lavon Lake.

Also, 34 between Tyrell and Greenville road conditions would be appreciated.

After driving home from work around 9:30 p.m., all I can say is wow. Hwy. 75 in Denison is an absolute nightmare tonight. A parking lot in almost all directions from just north of TMC Hospital on Hwy. 75 to about as far north as I could see. Several vehicles were off the road. From FM 691 to my house, it was nothing more than a semi-controlled white-knuckled slide. BARELY made it up the hill not far from my house. I think those were the worst road conditions I have EVER driven in.

We got tired of waiting for the power came back on and went to stay with some friends at 75 and Mockingbird. I did see a guy in my rear view mirror go sliding into the center wall right as I got on 75 at Coit. Southbound was OK once we got below about Northwest Highway. 75 was a mess going northbound. We saw two accidents that had the highway shut down to one lane.

Porta, we may require a clarification of the adjective "better" in relation to wintry weather opportunities listed in my sig. Are we talkin' the white-stuff or the ice-we've-had-enuf-stuff?

Cause I'm sure we all want the aforementioned and not the latter. It's still early in the season, but I think I speak for everyone when I request that you put Lucy in timeout and make sure if she doesn't get her way, that she doesn't spite us.

It has been a nightmare for some. I-35 in Denton has been a parking lot for 10 hours. People were stranded and have been sitting in place for 10+ hours and slept in their cars. It is still a parking lot.

HUNDREDS of vehicles stranded on Hwy. 75 in Grayson County. Some have been stranded for up to 12 hours. Here are some tweets from Grayson County OEM:
