Louisiana Weather 2016
Tie down the pirogue and pray the creeks don't rise cause it looks like we are going to be getting a ton of rain over the next few days. Oh how they teased us with spring for the past few days.

I'm flying out of this mess from Lafayette and flying into more of this mess in Dallas. And I'm not a good flyer.
And what's a creek? We're in south LA..it's a coulee!

"Crick" is a yankee term.
I was surprised when I moved to DFW in 1995 that they called creeks essentially what we called drainage ditches in south La.

Seems like a bust so far for Lafayette. LIterally had not received any rain until about 8am this morning. I'd be surprised to see us receive 2", a far cry from the initial 7"-9". I know with these systems heavy rain hot spots are hard to pick, north LA sure got hammered

Re: Louisiana Weather 2016
The local weather channel has confused me. Yesterday they said we would get around 3 inches but nothing major. Then today we apparently got nearly 3 inches in a short time and now they are saying totals may be closer to 7-10 inches. Not sure what changed their mind because the GFS is not showing those kinds of totals. Not sure which model they prefer or if they follow an in-house model.

We were spared the worst of this dangerous system. We had a good rain this morning followed by sunshine and clear skies. The wind finally subsided which I'm thankful for. Hoping everyone was as lucky.

Got hit and continue getting hit pretty hard over here in ascension. With the current storms developing and moving in a few areas in the parish will reach 12" before midnight. With widespread amounts of 6-8 coming from just about everywhere. And that's just today, tomorrow could be a repeat of today, maybe worse.

Holy Moly! That was some storm those darn Texans sent our way. MEGA lightning. Trees down, flooding, signal and light poles down, power outages. 60-80 mph gusts.

After record 1000 year rains this past August, all of Louisiana except 4 parishes are under a burn ban now. Crazy! Crazy!
