Re: Northeastern Gulf of Mexico
No precip is moving from E to W but there is a NE wind at Keaton Beach well to the north of the semi spin

Tyndall AFB tower in the gulf would be another good one to watch.

Yeah not a lot moving east to west as you say. However right west of horseshoe beach there is that recent convection is.

Still at 20%/20%. I think this will be a weaker version of Colin, but could be a big rain threat.

Re: Northeastern Gulf of Mexico
This is looking more and more like it will be a long-term synoptic pattern (~10 days), with the past 3-4 model runs showing multiple vorticies in the NE GOM. One thing is clear, the GFS and the CMC forecast copious amounts of moisture over the next 10 days for this region:

Re: Northeastern Gulf of Mexico
Strange how the GFS keeps the copious amounts neatly right offshore. Almost like there is a glitch in the way precip total is reflected on that map. The Euro has been showing some of the largest precip totals onshore.

Re: Northeastern Gulf of Mexico
It is literally sitting right on top of horseshoe beach/ cedar key. Quickly tightening. Wont do much that close to land. Has to move away. Very interesting watching it though

Re: Northeastern Gulf of Mexico
If it can now just move even 20 to 50 miles offshore it might have a chance.
But look look at that little thing go. Fun to watch.

How far west is this expected to slide? I was under the impression that it would hang out around the Big Bend area of FL and then move north.

this is one of the most intriguing parts of meteorology. tropical development and in radar and observation range ? even if it moves inland and does not get classified this is great data and great time..
