Interesting debate...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Interesting debate...

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Sat Sep 27, 2003 10:13 am

Well the NHC @ 11 am now says that TD 16 is not forecast to strengthen into Kate. So this is the debate...

Which system will become Kate 1st {if either}.. TD 16 or the developing blob in the Caribbean...

It's funny how all day yesterday the NHC was insisting TD 16 would strengthen to a tropical storm and now they are completely backing off even though the winds are close to tropical storm force at 35 mph.

Could it again be a female storm for Florida..? we shall see...

My thinking is that Kate will form in the Caribbean, and that is if that system do anything

LIL Bump.. I have to agree with you.. I thought for sure Kate would have formed out of TD 16 but now I am backing off.. Kate will probably be the Caribbean system.

and TD 16 showed so much promise too lol..

I agree that Kate will probably be the carribean system instead of td 16.

Last time around, in 1985, Kate was quite a late season monster...a cat 3 hurricane in the eastern GOM in the latter half of November...

While it was quite a problem for Florida, damage wasn't quite high enough to be retired. Perhaps she will take another shot at Florida this season...we will see.

Maybe Kate has some business she needs to take care of here.. Hopefully it's just rain business and not wind business.

I think the Carib system has a much better chance at becoming Kate then TD16

Josephine now the debate centers on what 90L will do.Will it intensify, will it move to Florida as a TD or TS,will it be nothing more than what it is now, will it move thru the Yucatan to the BOC,many questions that hopefully will be answered soon.

Professionals are allowed to be wrong, too. Weather forecasting is just that, forecasting. :)
