Back one page there was a quote from NBC6 John Morales about the intensification going on, and that Hurricane force winds could be expanding. At what point do they change Tropical Storm warnings for at least a Hurricane watch here in Miami Dade.

At this point, if there was a change it would be to a warning not a watch. Its too close for a watch

Here's my question. I'm in extreme SE Dade County and we only have TS warning at this time, so why on earth are we in red zone for high probability of cat 1-2 winds? I'm a nurse scheduled to work tomorrow and not sure, yet, what the facility is doing. All preps need to be done today. Yes, I know, better to be safe than sorry, but this graphic just surprised me.

Call your Hospital/Practice administrator that is what they are for and should have all information.

My wife is one for HCA.

Where you going in Wpb? Is that where you think landfall will occur?

I firmly believe at this point only the NHC should be taken as the factual source for track.

There are many here with expert opinion and I like ALL of what they say because it ALL goes into the decision mix.

But I won't say where something is going to hit.

I will say right now I'm heading to West Palm Beach. Maybe further south.

The goal is the eye.

I also am carrying a lot of relief supplies.

I haven't read every page of this thread, but would like to know if you all were in Orlando, would you evacuate?

Also, are the people in Orlando putting up plywood on the windows? Are there other ways to secure the windows besides plywood or shutters?

This forum is always so helpful. This is my first major hurricane to go through.

The general rule is evacuation is for storm surge, not wind. Orlando is not on the coast, therefore, the general rule is not evacuation out of the area. You may however want to evacuate your home into another local building if you feel it is not sturdy enough to ride out the storm.

Definitely wobble watching here in SW Miami. I remember not boarding up for Katrina when it hit, thinking the eye would go north to Broward/PBC area.

Ended up being in the eye of the storm as well as having an F0 tornado near my place as Katrina wobbled south and west. It was terrifying... we had not put the plywood up while small things we had outside zipped by at 70+mph.

All of the vortex messages on my google earth app say 964

Those are from equipment drops into the storm (vortex msgs) aircraft are extrapolated so they dont always match. That said, the structure is looking better so intensification is not out of the question

I thought Recon was in there measuring. I am obviously distracted here with preparations and I apologize for that oversight. I have not seen the recent flight schedule of the Recon, but I would have to think they will be flying in as much as they are able to within their means.
