took me 8 but had to take multiple breaks including a 30 min siesta...weather was hot and sunny..30 mins after completion we were hit with a downpour..mother nature usually gives the day before for preps and it did today

It was crazy hot - I think I drank about 5 gallons of water and Gatorade! Lol. And we had our first rain 5 minutes after I tightened the bolts on the last set of shutters. Hunkered down amid ready to go.

Me too.tons of water and gatorade..im.impressed with broward county preps...lots of shutters up and supplies bought..complacency is low

The HRRR is a high-res model that's (sadly) EXTREMELY accurate when it comes to predicting 12-15* (sorry) hours out for storms, fairly new, but again very accurate (it did a great job with Hermine for example).

ty for explaining

"Poised"

This honestly needs to be coined as the most used word for this season, just from this storm alone..

It's obvious I liked it.

Max Mayfield discussing Matthew with Ed Rappaport on WPLG right now. I'm having a bit of a weather Geek Out moment.

In a hypothetical situation where Matthew does take a sharp West turn at the last minute, what would be the cause of that? The ridge being super strong?

no no..ERC happen typically during stable stages of a mature hurricane. matthew is rebuilding its inner core from the land interaction. wont be enough time for a ERC should strengthen up to landfall.

A redo of the core. There was an eye before and it's creating a new eye now so yes you could say it's almost a frankenstein-esque ERC, but in technicality, no it is not. The cane has completely redone its eyewall and CDO as a whole.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Low-level structure of Hurricane Matthew looks to be improving. Almost a closed cyan ring (classic cyan ring would be thicker on SW side to my understanding). For those unfamiliar with microwave imagery, a cyan ring around the eye is a harbinger of rapid intensification.
