I'm lovin' the above-normal temps in each GFS run from early next week through the 21st. Still no cold indicated in Canada for the next 2 weeks. We're definitely going to see a break in this harsh winter (that has lasted several days) after Sunday.

hmmm, you wish...see the -20 to -30 below normal temps in Western Canada by day 7 with a trough crashing into the southwest US ??? That trough will be a magnet for Arctic Air to head into the southern plains...this winter is far from over

I've been following those EC monthly forecast for the past couple of years and typically normal temps translate into actual below normal temps weeks 3-4 and beyond. Sorry heat miser, this is not a good sign for you...any warm spells will probably be short-lived

Don't trust those models beyond 3-5 days I am hoping for a freeze at your house this weekend.

Both orangeblood and wxman57 will probably be right, a mix of the two. Warm spells then sharp, quick hitting cold shots. Why deviate from what has been? Very Nino-esque pattern looking though medium to long range.

Edit: still some light mischief in the hill country with temps below freezing near and west of Austin. Champ the Charger chase perhaps?

the Euro just put a dagger into the hearts of snow lovers in Alabama and Georgia too. Like... it's awful. Atlanta gets 6-10" on the GFS and basically nothing on the Euro.

They have winter storm watches out too. It would be a big forecast bust if the euro is right. Lots of media hype right now in GA

the AJC(Atlanta's major newspaper) has an article up about being stuck at home for 3 days...

If the Euro is right this may be the worst bust I've ever seen over there... and I've seen a bunch...

Im going to Colorado and Oregon for a few months soon. So I know i'll see at least some snow, but theres nothing like seeing some snow at HOME... It's more exciting for some reason.

Considering that I live in southern Dallas County, i'm pretty sure I have even less of a chance of seeing at least some snow than those in the northern parts. I guess i'll just hold off any excitement till I get to Colorado and Oregon.

You have a pretty decent chance of seeing snow. Just a dusting+ is more likely in the northern counties. Mesoscale features for these light events can sometimes give you a little more

Thank you for cheering me up lol. I was just really hoping the Euro would keep the good trend going. At this point i'd be satisfied with a dusting. Hopefully things come together and we do get a little more than expected.

I just recorded a winter weather video (not my favorite) and I did mention snow flurries up in the D-FW area for tomorrow. Possibly some light accumulations in grassy areas, but not enough to cause any travel issues. Possibly light freezing drizzle with sleet for you in Austin, Portastorm. Cold rain for me, though I wouldn't rule out a stray sleet pellet. I suppose I can tolerate 3 days of cold, followed by 3 weeks of not-so-cold. Might need to put my second electric blanket into service on the couch this weekend.

One of my cats is also a heat-miser. She doesn't leave me much room for my feet. Oreo was one of two of my mother's cats that we inherited after she passed away last Mother's Day.
