I am in Galveston, TX - just a few blocks from the Seawall. If you know the island, we are a couple of blocks behind The Spot. The area was spared ...mostly...during Ike. That Seawall is awesome. Our house is unfortunately on the ground floor. 2 inches of rain causes our street to look like Venice. Which is why I have been so surprised at our fortune. Our kitchen and living room flooded earlier - less than an inch - but we were able to get it all cleaned up. So far only brown outs - but internet etc has stayed on. And no rain ...well except a few squalls - since earlier today. The bands keep going on either side of us! But I understand that will change in a couple of hours. I should sleep - I bet tomorrow is going to be hairy. I know the main road here - Broadway is flooded both at the bridge going to Houston and at the Ferry going to Bolivar according to neighbors who drove around earlier. I believe people have been crossing but its not advised. I plan to stay put and ride this out We have all our stuff upstairs. Hopefully no tornadoes will hit us A tornado hit a neighbors home shortly after Ike hit. Their home survived the strike but was destroyed by the aftermath... you just never know. I think I will try to sleep...
You and all in the path please stay safe!
