Having no children or grandchildren, I am immune to
that "Sponge Bob Square Pants" thingie....
I suffered through my niece and nephews with
"Sesame Street", which, wasn't all that bad, me thinks...;)

Karan, I'd like a cup of that Earl Grey, please? I had to
laugh...I just switched over to TWC, and, they said,
"currently for your area....62°...." WELL!!! 'Scuse me,
pul-LEZE? It's 48° in MY area...like, my front PORCH?
Lmao, that's a BIG difference! :P

Garrett, you need to talk to the "taxman" and see what you
can do about the wasted gas mileage for "attempting to
further your education" - lay it on 'em, hot and heavy, buddy!

I hope that everyone has a great Wednesday night!

Sponge Bob alert - I have a sick kid home today! The SB fan....oh no, rescue me?!!! LOL Laura's in bed right now so it's okay. Can just see her mosying down to the couch later to see what's on TV.

Well, I had to put my window painting aside. Rain got in the way and then sick kids! What's a person to do.....they will get done. Before winter. LOL I have 8 more I can reach. Hubby will get the rest with a ladder - that's his job in all of this. I prefer to do the lower ones. :-)

I feel blue today - so sad the Cubs lost! Crimeny, that's all I can think of. And I'm a Reds fan! The Cubs and their quest for the pennant sure captured my heart and support.

Have a good day everyone.

I'm sure Sponge Bob is a Cubs fan. Probably absorbing all his very own tears!

Earll sounds good Karan. You know...there are some days when I would really REALLY like to drive down the road, pull into a little breakfast diner where they let you drink a cup of coffee for three hours, and just sit among you folks here at Storm2k and work the kinks out of life's dealings.

This is one of those kind of days.

Oh Poppysky, if you need to talk, you know we're all here for ya.

Look at one of Emma's pics. That will put a big smile on your face and make all those "kinks" worth unravelling.

Take care my friend

Good morning Stovians!!

Well, the Cubs lost. See what happens when I root for a team?

I have to work night shift the next two nights: 2pm-11pm. Part of me likes the idea a lot better because I can sleep in, and part of me feels like that takes up my whole day!!! Oh well, maybe we'll be busy and it'll go by like nothin!

Off to mingle a bit longer, and then get ready for work! Hope y'all make it through the day!! (BTW Burgh, nothing for me to wake up to but clouds today, good one to sleep in!!)

Don't feel bad....I have a 45 minute drive to campus too....It would be a pain and a waste of gas to drive to campus and turn around to drive right back home!

Karan...you can use my laptop if you would like to pay the monthly payments that are associated with it.

Cubs Lost last night :( :( I was really rooting for a Cubs/Sox World Series matchup.

Who wanted the Clarinet? I have one at home (I used to play clarinet)

Well my Hydrology Midterm is done....as for the grading, I'll have to be patient.

I have an AMS meeting to attend tonight....thankfully, it is right here on campus (although I have to drive back to campus after work)

Have a nice Thursday night everyone.

Howdy everyone!

No Karan, we've been BUSY as all get out......the WMAT Police Dept has stepped up SAR training, they've had 4 calls in 6 days for searches, all those lost found their way out after they called us out, it's huntin' season ya know!

Steve, that's right, that's what the PBS buddies do best, we listen!

Here's a little diddy I got today, enjoy it and I'll see y'all tomorrow!

*Trapper's Stove*

An engineer, a psychologist, and a theologian were hunting in the
wilderness of northern Canada.

Suddenly, the temperature dropped and a furious snowstorm was upon them.
They came across an isolated cabin, far removed from any town. The
hunters had heard that the locals in the area were quite hospitable, so
they knocked on the door to ask permission to rest.

No one answered their knocks, but they discovered the cabin was unlocked
and they entered. It was a simple place ... 2 rooms with a minimum of
furniture and household equipment. Nothing was unusual about the cabin
except the stove. It was large, pot-bellied, and made of cast-iron.
What was strange about it was its location ... it was suspended in
midair by wires attached to the ceiling beams.

"Fascinating," said the psychologist. "It is obvious that this lonely
trapper, isolated from humanity, has elevated this stove so that he can
curl up under it and vicariously experience a return to the womb."

"Nonsense!" replied the engineer. "The man is practicing the laws of
thermodynamics. By elevating his stove, he has discovered a way to
distribute heat more evenly throughout the cabin."

"With all due respect," interrupted the theologian, "I'm sure that
hanging his stove from the ceiling has religious meaning. Fire LIFTED
UP has been a religious symbol for centuries."

The three debated the point for several hours without resolving the
issue. When the trapper finally returned, they immediately asked him
why he had hung his heavy pot-bellied stove from the ceiling.

His answer was succinct. "Had plenty of wire, not much stove pipe."

LOL, Dennis! Good one! That's a classic
example of making a mountain out of a mole-hill!

Steve, I think Karan's advice is the best - just look
at Miss Emma's smile.....;)

Shannon, if 'ya had a saxophone for sale, instead of a
clarinet, I might have been interested! But, then, I
have a bass guitar growing dust in the closet - ahhh...
where do I have time? :)

Jacki, I used to work evening shift when I was YOUR age - LOL,
I loved it! The party always started after work! Now, well...
hmmm....WHAT party?

Everyone have a great night!

...and I did look at Miss Emma's picture. It worked.

By the way...true story. I played alto sax for seven years from 6th grade through my senior year.

Finally, I retired the sax. One night, for need of money, I sold the sax, the case, and with all the nasty old reeds inside for $5.00,

The guy told me he would pay me on Friday.

That was in 1964.

I have yet to see the check.

:o :o I am sorry to hear that!

Breeze, I will have to check. NO big deal if you don't want. It just collects dust here. ;)

laugh and roll your eyes at those "deals" gone
wrong? Because, lol, I'm figuring, you MIGHT
be doing ok, regardless of the deal "gone bad"...?
:ggreen: LOL, don't get me started on
"I owe ya's..!"

Just a mention, Garrett...take your time, buddy.
You know how I am....that electric bass in the
closet thing.....(*sigh....) :)

Good CHILLY morning everyone!

Sheesh, I just don't think the thermometer wants to climb this morning, it is darn right chilly!

Have to do the night shift thing again tonight, it isn't too bad of a shift but you definitely work a lot harder at night than during the day!! That makes the time go faster though so I guess I got what I asked for!

I also heard a rumor that my WalMart has fallen seriously behind this week (go figure!), and I will most likely be working on Saturday, maybe even a longer day than normal! I just hate it because I will probably be working a loooooooong day and I have to go in at 8am after getting off at 11am tonight! Oh well, I have Sunday off, I'll be ok! LOL, anyone ever notice I like to whine? :D

Well, I need to get some breakfast in me and get chuggin! I left some hot chocolate sitting by the stove if y'all want some! Have a good day!

I obviously I played the clarinet, but since the clarinet and saxophone fingerings are almost identical, I play the sax also. (the Upper note fingerings of a clarinet were the same as a sax)

well, didn't make it to the AMS meeting last night, feel ill at work. Came down with something strange....extremely light headed and fatigue....I can't explain why it happened, but it did...and it came on strong! It was a rush to get a teacher for my 5:25pm class and thankfully another instructor was teaching my 6:15pm class (she owed me)...so that way I could head home. I had to call work when I got home that way they knew I was safe (its a 30-35 minute drive from work to home)....I called work and then afterwards went straight to bed.... over 11 hours of sleep!!! went to bed at 8pm and woke up before my alarm at 7am.

Dennis....that was a hilarious story!!! :ggreen:

Have a wonderful Friday everyone.

Good afternoon fellow stovians,

TGIF, TGIF   I have a babysitting job tonight. Craig's nephew's (mine now) ages 9 and 11 will be spending the night. I'll take them out to Dave and Busters for awhile. We'll have dinner and them have some fun with all the games!!! I'll get to cook breakfast for someone. YIPPEE

Shannon, if I didn't know better I'd say you have an inner ear infection. :( Take care.

Stormcrazy, thanks for cocoa. It hit the spot on this chilly, rainy day.

Poppysky, I keep my grandbabies pictures right on my desk. They stare at me all day!!!! Eases my mind and makes me Happy!!!! :D

Well, let's see, we have clarinet, sax and I have a flute and piccolo!!!!
We have a good woodwind section going here - any brass out there??????

Dennis, I loved that joke. Sooooooooo true. By the way, how are you feeling?? Give Michelle a (Hug) for me.

Ok, I better get my butt in gear and finish up here. I'll brew a pot of Earl Grey and sit it on the stove to steep. Maybe Raine will come in out of the rain and Miss Mary will stop too.

Have a great evening and take care my friends :D
