Third or fourth week of May. Winds will reverse near 120W from easterly to westerly signaling an EPAC awakening. Invest or depression of some sort and plume associated will feed Texas. All models are showing a major block over Hudson Bay (west -NAO) that will bring a major trough from GOA -> Southwest that will be the feature to draw up moisture from the deep Pacific tropics.

It is a classic Spring flooding type pattern. The fact that the water basins are at capacity is pre-conditioning for major flood.

Invest or depression?

If we can remain relatively dry for the next week, plenty of time for the reservoirs to lower a good bit, at least here in Houston. We don't want your junk from the north though.

Has it gotten out of the 50's today? If not, the record high minimum might be smashed by several degrees. Don't have the exact number but I think it is the mid 60's for this date.

Since 2000, if today holds below 60 which it looks like it will, is only the second time May has had a daily max below 60F at DFW. The other being May 2011 (53F).

We've been pretty blessed ever since 2014 here in TX. Sure some dry spells and mini droughts in between but overall, it has been a good wet last couple years.

It's just annoying to think though that the next drought inevitably will follow soon but for now, lets just enjoy the rain train! :D

DFW picked up about 1" so far overnight. 12-13" for Spring MAM which is above normal. A few more inches and we might crack top 10.

Short range hi-res guidance have not performed well the past month. These disturbances often are generating more rain than forecast.

I got a bit over an inch. A surprise since it didn’t look to be much from the forecast.

Haven’t had to run sprinklers at all yet. Nice!
