Looks like strength is more or less holding firm for now, which for a strong 4 in the Atlantic is impressive enough.

Latest Recon pass confirms that Dorian is maintaining its Cat 4 status, and also shows it has not gained any latitude since earlier this afternoon.

It still only puts it around Grand Bahama Island.

I'm not close to being a pro but don't forget how far from center that the damage can be. This is what worries me about friends in Florida who think they are in the clear.

Does anyone think it may have been a little stronger this afternoon and has just slightly weakened back to how it was around lunchtime? The satellite presentation has been better than ever

After taking a nice 2 hour nap, nothing like waking up to a beautiful but destructive hurricane on our door step :double:
I pray that loss of life is kept at a minimum if any and all residents have taken all precautions in the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama.
This thing better at least slow down if it is not going to gain much latitude over the next 24 hours before putting a lot of people nervous in FL.

Absolutely.Dorian will only grow in size and if it really gets close on approach in the aŕea with the eyewall. Remember another major concrrn with spproach of hurricane: Tornadoes. Always a concern with approach of hurricanes, especially.if they landfall. Still so much on the table...

It appears to have slowed but you can't tell the forward speed from the dropsonde placement with such a large eye. Would be nice to get an accurate forward speed as it seems to have slowed down.

Lol, the eye is not big at all, is only like 15 miles across.
