Hello from the desert floor! Early this morning we are in the 60's, headed toward that century mark once again. What did I read yesterday, we have had nearly 130 days above 100 this summer! I'm wanting to get out for some evening walks, but it stays +84 until after 8 and that keeps me from wandering too far. They have revised the impact of the cooler air for this weekend...only the lower 90's, not the mid 80's....but that WILL be noticable.
Hope the sting goes away Dennis. Taking care of this body of ours is becoming a full time project. I started my annual physical in April and finished it this week. Will be making an appointment for next year's by December!
Furry...I know you love camping, but I can tell you that bears in search of grub can be fiesty. Maybe better stick with another cruise. At least there the wild animals can be tamed with a cattle prod.
In the middle of a major equipment installation at work...the first in Arizona to install this particular direct-to-plate technology for a press as large as ours. Should be up and running by the end of next week!
Take care folks...the last whimpers of fall will pass quickly for most of you. I'm planning a drive two weekends from now up north to see any remnants of color on the Mogullon Rim.

What the heck is going around these days? My kids rarely miss school. First Laura came home sick one day last week, missed the next day (stomach thing). Then we had out of town company last weekend and we found out the couple's son had been sick last week (thank you very much for telling us ahead of time!). Now Laura stayed home sick today and Nina came home from school feeling awful. This is only October and I'm already ready to yell!!! And now I'm feeling achy......going to turn in early tonight and talk myself out of this! Anywho, I told those girls - wash your hands, and wash them again! One year when they were very young, we had 7 straight weeks of passing the same bug around between the 4 of us. My washer just about broke down for overuse (will spare you the rest of the details!). I was near my wits end near the 7th week, I went out and bought antibackterial soap for every sink in this house - even the laundry room. And now we are still in the habit of washing our hands the minute we come home from anywhere (not that we're germ freaks but this last round is just reminding me we need to take care of ourselves better!).
Get well everyone! Winter isn't even upon us, can only imagine what the flu will do! I know I'm getting my flu shot, oh yes I am!

Good evening everyone!
My PC's modem crashed tonight. I'm borrowing Marty's while he's at karate. My current PC I bought in 1999. It's as slow as sh*t so instead of getting the modem replaced I'm going to get a new PC.
Dennis - I hope that the tests come back negative on what you had removed the other day.
I can't believe how sick everyone is again! Joshua, I hope that you feel better too!
Lindaloo - I sent you a PM.
I hope everyone is doing well. I'll check back in through work.

Cool pic Snowman!! Michelle looks like she is about to bust out laughing. Beautiful dogs.
Got your PM Steph.. now check yours. lol. It might be cheaper just to replace the modem. If you have a 56K modem, they are dirt cheap.
LOL Josh.. been there done that when it comes to not having something in the house to cook with. Ya want something so badly then you start to prepare it and the one thing you need you are out of. Oh yeah!! hehe.

I geuss I need to dig through the pics I have taken since that one in the Gallery and find an update. I really have been meaning to send in another, so now that I mentioned it I geuss I better.
Wow, I hope everyone gets better!!! I, knock on wood, have been doing pretty well. Allergies seem to have let up some and I've already had my flu shot. We've been hit with the flu early here in Houston. One school had 375 kids absent one day!! The son, who can't stand needles-I mean he runs from them!!!-had the flu over the weekend and Monday. Everyone else has had the shot.
We've been "suffering" through the higher temps here too. The official high today was 89º, about 10º above normal, and we show 91º here at the abode.. Our saving grace has been low humidity(for us). It was 36% earlier today. By Monday morning we are supposed to be down to 48º for the low, which is closer to normal or actually a little below normal I believe, with highs in the 70's. AAAAHHHH!!!!!!
I had an interview today!! It seemed to go well, but all of mine seem to and then nothing. I should know something by the end of the week. Pray that God's will be done in this situation.
I've also taken on the role as my in-laws "official" caretaker at least 2 days a week. That includes cleaning, and cooking and taking to appointments etc. My wife can't do it since she works full time and her sister does not want to give up her current "lifestyle" which allows her to do whatever she wants. She may have to if I get a job soon. They want to stay in their home, but are not able to take care of everything and refuse to have outside help come in. Neither one of them should be driving either, even though Susan's dad still does. Hopefully I have that stopped after the eye appointment the other day where the doctor said he should not be driving in response to my question. I/we will be glad to take them wherever they would like to go, but neither one of them is ambulatory enough to do much. Since I am unemployed I am being paid for the hours I work, surprisingly at the suggestion of my Sister-in-law. We figured whe would get upset if we even brought it up, but she did before we even said anything! If I have an income, of course I will begin to refuse the pay, especially since I will not be there nearly as much.
Well, I've rambled more than enough. Everyone have a wonderful rest of the week!!

Need some refreshingly cool and and hard freezes to kill all those bugs. Looks like a shot of real preaseason fall air will hit most everyone east of the Rockies by Sunday or Monday. Maybe that will kill the bugs and calm the sicknesses.
Dennis...nice pic for sure. I'd trust the four of you to come find me anytime I get lost in them thar mountains.
Take care everyone. Have a good Thursday. Maybe, just maybe, we won't hit 100 tomorrow. Whoopee!

Good Morning! And a FINE one at that
like azskyman said "ONE" more day of record breaking heat and fall FINALLY arrives, well, at least the cooler temps! This has been, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the warmest October on record, I was talkin' to an old cowboy yesterday, he was born and raised up here, he's 86 years old, still rides his horse everyday
he said that he cannot ever remember it being this HOT up here......normally by this time, we've had snow flurries at least ONCE.
Thanks......yeah, as you can tell by the photo, we were VERY excited when our Captian delivered our unit to us yesterday
We needed another 4x4 for searches, the last 2, with the exception of the last one, were way out in the boonies, our Dodge Ram is a 4x4 but the terrian we've been in was kinda puttin' a strain on it. The PD pays for our fuel etc but not the wear and tear.
Headin' to Flagstaff today, since Kohls opened up there, we've been dyin' to see what one's like, so we took the day off and takin' a little roadtrip
David, I've been prayin' for ya brother, hope you get that job
It's tough when our parents get older and refuse any outside help isn't it? Michelle's parents are the EXACT way, they're both in their mid 80's, can't take care of the house like they used to, they can't get around that well, they can afford a full time, live in house keeper/helper but they REFUSE to do so........we're so afraid that her mother/father are gonna fall and break something. I don't know......."IF" I live to be that old, I hope someone takes me out in the woods for a LOOOOONG walk "LOL!"
Well folks, I'm in dire needs of another cup O' Joe.....take care and have a GREAT day!
Dennis

Our exact situation, and they both have fallen within the last few months and I in fact am taking dad in to see if there is anything we can do about the apparent stress fracture in his already bad foot. We love them anyway, just get very annoyed sometimes.
Lookin' to be another hot one here too and then the cool down begins on Saturday with storms expected Saturday night.
HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL!!

Good Morning All,
It's cold here in the Burgh. Temp is 37° this morning. I'm driving a 2004 Buick while my Forester is being repaired. Nice car!!
Dennis, I love the new pic - nice ride!!!!! By the way, nobody could loose you in the woods. You have SAR units - remember???????
Well it's time to bring out the homemade chicken noodle soup. Hope it helps everyone feel better.
Stephanie, let me know what kind of PC you get and how you like it. I'm just waiting for mine at home to die. It is definitely a very slowwwwwww dinosaur!!!
David, you definitely have my prayers. I have my fingers crossed too. God Bless you for taking care of you in-laws.
Furry!!!!! Lions and Tigers and Bear, Oh MY!!!!
Hope everyone has a Great Day!!!!
I'll stoke the fire, put on a fresh pot of coffee and brew some Earl Grey for Miss Mary and Raine and all those who have acquired the taste for this fine tea.
Take care my friends
Karan

Good Afternoon folks!
I thought I'd pop in now before I went PC shopping tonight. I do know that internal modems are fairly inexpensive but this was the excuse I was looking for....
I wanna new PC!!!!
ANYWAY - David I hope that the interview is successful for you.
Dennis - I love the new pic with your SAR puppies ( I refer to all dogs as puppies). I love Kohl's for their clothes and home accessories.
Joshua - it's good to here that you are hungry so hopefully that means you're feeling alittle better.
Karan - I've been looking for deals on PC's all day and there's a good one for an "eMachine" for $648 at Walmart. Sam's Club has Compaq Presarios on sale for about the same price. I sear, everytime I buy a new PC it's cheaper than the last!
Have a great evening guys if I don't get to drop in later!

Hey all!
I probably won't be in here much for the next week or so... my 8 hour days got upgraded to 10 hour days which got upgraded to a full 12 hours everyday until we open next Wed, and I might not even have my Sunday off!
So, needless to say most of my time will be going to sleep! I'll try to peek my head in every once in a while, I'll miss y'all!

Stephanie,
I would recommend the eMachine over the compaq. JMO though. The last compaq I bought angered me to no end. When I wanted to upgrade components, I had to buy compaq brand components, nothing else would fit. THey were very spendy also. I have owned eMachines for the last three PCs that I have owned. THey are easy to upgrade with off hte shelf components and are rather trustworthy IMO. Good luck with the shopping I am sure you will get what you want though.
Hope to see you around StormCrazy, don't work too hard. Let us know the progress.

Morning everyone!
Gosh Jacki... don't they know you need to sleep some too?
Anyways... looks like it will be turning much colder this weekend and so the PBS will come in real handy on those upcoming cold mornings.
Everyone enjoy your weekend!

Good Morning!
Well.....from reading the NAFD this morning, I'm gonna have to put rocks in my pockets here in a little bit :o Sustained winds of 35 mph with gusts to over 40 mph are in the forecast AND......."MUCH COLDER" temps
Let me tell ya, after Flagstaff yesterday, (in the words of Sponge Bob) "I'm READY, I'm READY!"
We had to run the AIR CONDITIONER in the Dodge yesterday :o I couldn't believe just how FLIPPIN' HOT it was up there...I've never seen anything like it!
Had a BLAST in Flag and Kohls??
What a GREAT store! I like designer labels for clothes, after Burlington Coat Factory in Alququerque then Kohls yesterday, I "WILL NOT" buy clothes at WalMart ever again.
There's a sad situation in Flagstaff......the bark beetle has laid waste to almost every single Ponderosa Pine in and around Flag
makes me sick to see this. I've been reading on the Forest Service website that this really isn't unusual, seems about every 100-150 years that these beetles show up (according to tree ring studies) and thin the forests.
Jacki...geeesh, take care kiddo. My son just had his schedule changed for the holidays, 9 days straight, then 4 days off
I really wonder about WalMart sometimes, like it's been said, since Sam died and the kids took over, Wally world has gone down the commode!
ANYWAYS.....gotta split and stack a load of wood we bought the other day, we cut our own aspen, spruce but finding alligator Juniper is tough! We bought a cord and a half for 100$'s :o THAT'S CHEAP considering you have to drive over 60 miles to cut it :o plus it RUINS the chain on a chainsaw, it's a very hard wood, that's why we like burning it, put one log on at night and it burns ALL NIGHT
plus........there's NUTHIN' in this world that smells better than Juniper/Cedar burning! So....if any of y'all don't have anything to do today, you can come on over and help me split/stack
HEY.......I know Jacki, you've got a spare 12 hours, why don't YOU come help me??? "LOL!"
Dennis
