Looking ahead, I think we have a decent chance of seeing a heavy rainfall event across much of the state during the October 19-22 time frame. Long-range operational and ensemble models look promising in showing a slow-moving large trough over the SW US. The potential is there for some areas to see several inches of rain. We could surely use it!

I could def see some potential for sleet around the Edwards Plateau tomorrow morning and maybe in other high spots east of there. Saturday morning looks to be the first frost for areas along and north of I-20 with some spots dropping into the 20s even.

Thw 12Z 12KM NAM is very optimistic about precip in the next 24 hours - FWD is buying it somewhat, saying 1-2" possible. I'm skeptical, the RIDGE OF DEATH has beaten me down.

Liquid, in the form of little drops , is falling from the clouds near DFW airport. First time I have seen rain in a month and a half.

We had a fire drill, and it felt great out there. Cloudy, so maybe that means we won't get 93 or 94 today like they were talking about let's hope.

Places like Denver are getting to casually enjoy something in October while we can’t get it to happen in even 5 flipping years. It is 97F today. Unfair to say the least.

Granted, it can’t even rain here anymore.

12z GFS sure looks beautiful! Much of the eastern half of TX gets 3-7 inches of rain over the next 2 weeks. Please verify!

I was looking at the reading near Austin. It was an immediate 30 degree drop as soon as the line went through on the next frame (77 degrees to 47 degrees). :double: It's like The Day After Tomorrow, but I think that was a 100-degree drop(?). :P

My sister lives in CO Springs and sent me a text a little while ago that it was in the 20s and snowing. Jealous.

Have a friend who lives in Arvada, Colorado write about 30 minutes ago: the difference in 24 hours and a cold front. It was 80 degrees, now it’s 24.

She shared a before pic of her yard with some fall foliage, and an after pic in same yard with snow all over the place.

This front means business! :cold:

Friend of mine from HS lives in CO Springs and also posted on FB pics of the early snow. Said their first snow of the season last year was also on the this exact same date. Go figure....

The 3km NAM(especially) and the HRRR look really good for a soaking for DFW this evening before the temps plunge

also it looks like fropa has sped up a bit being before 10pm for the metro

and even some lingering showers after, tomorrow gonna be chilly :cold: temps may continue to fall until close to noon

FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAYMORNING

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 possible.

* WHERE...Central, east central, northern, northwest, southeast,
southern, southwest and western Oklahoma and northern Texas.

* WHEN...From late Friday night through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing

Say goodbye to the record heat after tonight! A strong cold front arrives between the hours of Midnight and 8 am from north to south. A drastic drop in temperature will be accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms and windy conditions with north winds of 20 to 30 mph. Rainfall amounts are expected to be less than 1/4 inch.
