Told him it might be a good idea to stick to weather and not politics. Oh well.

0Z GFS has that sub zero air lined up all along the Canadian border and northern Plains, but it WILL NOT budge south. It's stuck there. Frustrating.

I still see no reason to be optimistic about wintry chances around here anytime soon

Fortunately my trip to Lake Tahoe is coming up late next weekend and so far(granted it's long range) it looks snowy :spam:

Storm late this week is looking like a big one. There is lack of cold air but will be a fairly deep system mslp wise.

The Pacific continues to go on path of reversing in the next few days. Jet retraction may allow some pieces of arctic circle cold to break southward. Ridge placement favors chill west of MS river. Coldest in the intermountain region to plains.

It’s been just pouring all morning with rates of 0.55-0.60” an hour. It’s a shame there was no cold air with this.

Pretty nice line of storms coming together out west, looks like there is a chance that portions of N. Texas could end up in a watch.

SPC Supercell Composite approaching 3 across portions of DFW, which is pretty high given this setup.

The 12z Euro and GFS basically just cut our rain totals in half for the midweek system

GEFS and EPS now agree on some cold air movement with the spreading out of the cold anomalies from the Alaska/NW NA region due to the emergence of forward progress from the Pacific. Keep watch on the storm late week/weekend. It may be the first system to carve a mid continental trough to allow the cold air to spread.

Pouring buckets here at work. Nice to finally see some weather. Quick hitter though, looks to be clearing out west.

Quick but effective. I've picked up .83 of rain today, .5 of that in the past 20 minutes.

Just got back from my DC trip, had a ton of fun and got to enjoy the "cooler" nights there. Looks like it's going to be rainy here the upcoming week or so, which is fine by me.

Well, I think that those of you looking for snow in Texas now have your reason why it hasn't snowed lately - it's you, Brent. For the past two months, California (& Lake Tahoe) has been hit by storm after storm, piling up the snow. However, after tomorrow's small storm, the GFS predicts no further storm there until January 11th, probably as you're returning back to Texas. Perhaps it will snow in the D-FW area while you're gone? ;-)

Rained lightly all day yesterday with an evening round of heavier rain. Did not expect it to continue into today like it has though. Even had some hail this morning.

Looks like the models are starting to lose the New Years system :x looks like it’ll blow up east of Texas once again.
