Nice light rain here in Bell County. At least my plants got what they wanted for a while :sprinkler:

EDIT: Just noticed the TX Panhandle has a winter weather advisory currently. Surprising :thermo:

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

My vehicle thermometer fluctuated between 80 and 81 degrees while driving home yesterday. Awesome! :spam:

DFW picked up more than an inch of rain so far to almost 3" for January. That is above normal qpf in what is typically a dry month.

There is still some model support for the mid week snow, though less than a couple days ago. Canadian op is not too far off. GFS op is a no go, but there are still a couple ensemble members with it. Euro Op is a no go but its ensembles are not terrible with some members showing decent snow.

The EPO is just killing our chances of driving enough cold air this far south....the NE Pacific Warm Pool doesn't appear to have a lot of influence on this North American Pattern currently. The MJO is overwhelming and it's not favorable for Texas winter weather at this time!

Remembered on my 80 degree run today, a term that im pretty sure i learned from here..... Barbell winter. A winter where the beginning of the winter is cold, hot in the middle, cold towards the end. (At least in our case.)

Not sure about SE Texas but here in North Texas there has been no bell, just a bar!!! 3 Deg F above Normal for Dec 2019 and so far in Jan 2020 6.5 Deg F above Normal, lowest temp so far is a pathetic 27 Deg F. Going on Half a Decade of almost non-existent winters around here, depressing!

It's schizophrenic. Like Sally Field in Sybil. Multiple personalities. It's indecisive. Like in the movie Arthur where Arthur's future father in law says "I don't like your drinking. It affects your decision making." And Arthur replies, "You are right, I can't decide." This winter is a bad combination of Dudley Moore and Sally Field. Does this make any sense?

Our state is cursed. I seriously am considering moving to Denver later in life. I hope I get the opportunity. Near tornado alley with blizzards in April. Love it.

Forgot the brief cold spell in Mid November, we did get down to 22 F then.

Another amazing stat for DFW, we've had 1 day, 1 day below 40 F for a high temp and that occurred in Mid November...and it's already January 16th. Crazy!!!! :double:

We still have 2.5 months of potential winter weather. Think back to the 14/15 winter. Snow in mid Nov like this year then 4 winter events after Valentines Day.
