I’m going Jan 22nd to Jan 26th but the next system looks more like rain in the city and snow up in New England towards Maine.

At least I’ll experience 30 degrees for 4 days which will feel great compared to 82 degrees every single day. Yes the warm weather gets old for those that think I’m crazy.

When are ya going? New York city get's their bulk of Winter weather late January & February. I'm pretty sure you'll get your watches & warnings if you're up there beween the 26th - 30th.

February is tops for big noreasters. they seem to come in bunches too

Yes they do. And, what a difference that winter storm tracks can make too. Such as a deepening low approaching N.Y. from the west and tracking over or just north of them, verses a deepening low approaching from the south off Hatteras.

Boy, timing is everything. If that Jan 26 GFS projected storm track were to shift south.... or speed up, i could see N.Y. getting wrap-around snow. Even a weak upper level disturbance could bring a few flurries when you first get there.

I booked this trip in October so it’s a crapshoot for storm timing.

12Z Euro is cold with mid 30s across the I-4 corridor including Orlando and Tampa. Wed 1/22 is the coldest night. Will have to watch if we get a freeze in parts of Central Florida out of this. Plenty of time for models to trend just a few degrees colder.

Too funny, the models swapped, the Euro during the past couple of runs has been trending colder for lows Wednesday morning while GFS has been trending warmer. :double:

Here in the Tampa Bay area, today might just be the most beautiful day of the season. A backdoor cold front came through last night and has scoured out the humidity and excessive mid-80s heat of the past week and left us with mild temps to rise into the mid-to upper 70s with dewpoints in the 50s. Unfortunately it's only going to last through tomorrow before the cold comes in but today is what a Florida winter should be.

I totally agree. this is why I hope for above normal temps (but not a muggy torch) in the winter. Today is stunning but it also happens to be a good bit above normal temp wise. It's also why spring is my favorite shoulder season. Hopefully we stack up lots more of this between now and April.

Looks like the models have levelled off on trending colder so for now doesn’t look like a widespread freeze for Central Florida but will have to monitor as we get closer.

I will be surprised if we get below 55 here because this whole winter is a disappointment even though I see the NAO going into the negative it probably will bounce back to positive in a few days.

Central Florida has never really been in contention for a freeze. Most places will have difficulty falling below the mid to upper 30's. The Tampa bay metro won't likely fall below 40. Might be a close shave for the strawberry fields but the sprinklers will provide an effortless offset and even that is questionable. Beyond that the latest 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks are...not cold.

I think the second temp. map is for 10 days out. Not the 22nd. Think that's for next weekend NDG

I can’t even remember the last time Miami went below 50°, must not happen too often there anymore. Hard to believe it’s snowed in Miami before!

Like NDG said before chances are greater that SE Florida gets hit with a major hurricane over seeing another freeze anytime soon.

Fortunately we’ve seriously lucked out with Matthew and Dorian going at least 50 miles to our East and Irma at least 50 miles to our West, talk about threading a thin line!

It is for the 22nd, is on the time stamp. But the 12z GFS went back to a little colder.

Psyclone, this is the post of the day, or better yet, the post best describing what it has become seemingly during this past decade!!

There most definitely has been a Global Warming/Climate Change that has been on display for us the past 10 years for sure. This topic definitely needs a thread of its own for another day. It is too lengthy to discuss for the current time.

18z GFS has trended a good bit warmer for next weeks cold front. Just like almost every successful frontal passage the winds right away turn in off the Atlantic immediately modifying the airmass.

Psyclone that was a great post and I thought it a few times but never posted it. At least I get to go to New York next week and experience 20s 30s and 40s it will feel awesome until I come back to low 80s again.
