That’s like Dallas complaining Oklahoma City gets more snow

Well yeah but the point is this thread has turned into too much complaining whenever Dallas doesn't get any snow. Like Joe Bastardi always says: "Enjoy the weather, it's the only weather you got."

If you think our Dallas friends are complaining you should see my friends in Ohio.

Everyone loves to compare Dallas to Austin though and complain how we get so much more snow ... which is just not true.

Our snow history is abysmal down here.

Let us have the 1/2” - 1” in 2017 after 6 years in peace.

Seems to me the thread is a bunch of DFW folks hopeful a storm is coming this way but I guess people read it the way they want.

I know I've been kind of negative and skeptical about the whole thing but at the end of the day I would love nothing more than for the whole area to get buried I mean it'll be 5 years in a month if this one fails :spam: it's really absurd it's gone on this long and it's time to move on lol

I honestly don't wanna drive anywhere to see snow but these last few years of not seeing at home(where I agree its way better) have driven me into decisions like that I mean I spent who knows how much in Tahoe just last month

I have to agree with you on this. I've seen feet of snow several times in Colorado with blizzard conditions. It doesn't really excite me unless it's at my house. I do love to see snow here in Houston. Cold without snow, though, is useless to me.

Think that depends where your proximity to the snow is. We drove 40 minutes to Decatur, Tex from Keller a couple of weeks ago for 3 inches of snow and the family had a blast. Strangely I feel that counts as a dfw snowfall. It certainly was in that narrow band of snow from Jacksboro over to Denton.

All 3 DFW TV Forecasters (Fox4 doesn’t even focus on weather so they don’t count in my book) kept anything that would be considered significant northwest of FW. Of course they say keep an eye on the weather for changes but they all were more of the attitude nothing big would happen here. Just trying to provide more data points for those that can’t keep up with everything.

Lol, I would almost bet on it, watch 00z high res models come in further east and colder, remember we still have 3 major data sets before this storm is here

Is it better as a TV forecaster to be wrong by underestimating the amounts or wrong by overestimating? (IE....under meaning "little to know snow" and a lot of snow happens) or (over meaning "huge snowstorm" and nothing happens?) I bet they have to weigh the choices.

The GFS is sure moving it toward DFW.

Edit: That's what the 18z shows.

NWS Fort Worth
A powerful winter storm will move through the Southern Plains late Tuesday night into Wednesday after a blast of arctic air spills into the region. Areas of snow and sleet are likely to develop and overspread parts of the region late Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday. Accumulations of 3 to 5 inches of snow will be possible northwest of the Metroplex, with lighter amounts farther south and east. Stay tuned to the latest forecast for updated information.

Oh I am definitely not being critical. This storm I too marginal to go out on a limb. I wouldn’t yet. They did a good job of saying look for updates but sometimes they will hint they think it’s going to change, didn’t see that. Just an observation.

By the way something that may be helpful for visitors on here is if you say something is going to happen, or that you think a model etc is wrong, perhaps add another sentence or two to explain why. Sometimes it seems folks just post what they want to happen but it comes off like they have some additional knowledge when sometimes it’s either just because they are an eternal optimist or pessimist. Plus if we have facts then we can all look into those facts and see if we come to the same conclusion and perhaps get better at this. :D

Little to no change in the 18z Euro. I would be feeling pretty good about my snow chances if I was anywhere between Abilene and OKC. Flurries will be possible as far south as IH-10.

OKC needs this too as OK has had years of zip also, but I hope it expands a bit to include DFW.

I rescheduled my appointment Wednesday just in case.

I am no expert or anything but FWIW the ARW said it should be about 40 near Amarillo now and current temps according to Wunderground are in the 34-36 range.

Not sure what the models say, but the front is through Vernon and Lawton and is on the doorstep of the Falls.

It's actually 32 in Amarillo as of 6:53 pm CST. At the Airport.

Hey that’s good info. You certainly don’t need to be an “expert” to post or else there wouldn’t be too many posts on here.   Stuff like this helps us all see how the models are handling everything.

That would be welcome here in San Antonio. I’m not sure if you remember me from the hurricane and tropics threads, but I recently joined the Air Force and for time being, I’m still at Lackland. Winter is a little different than Jacksonville, but more or less the same so far.
