I see some people saying that it's now moving NNW now. I don't see that, what are your thoughts? Do you think we will see another westward shift with the 11PM advisory based on your observations or do you think it's shifting back east to make the turn and head NNW before landfall tomorrow (possible landfall)?

Please excuse my ignorance; I'm new here. What is D-max?

D-max is the time of day (night in this case, and the opposite of d-min) in the diurnal cycle where convection tends to fire more effectively especially in developing systems, usually see a big flare-up overnight... from what I gather at least lol

Thanks for explaining this, and thanks to tolakram too!

If Isaias landfalls as a hurricane on the east coast of FL, was the last east coat landfall Jeanne in 2004?

My guess is that the AF305 recon will find even stronger winds in the NE quadrant since they are flying at ~840 mb. The first NOAA3 plane that went through there was flying at 640 mb, so winds will be lower.

Thanks.

I always forget that Katrina hit east coast. I had zero effects up this way and it’s just a NOLA storm in my head

What a change from this morning. For the first time it’s life it actually kind of looks like a hurricane now. That persistent band to the east may hold it back from strengthening too quickly though.

I think Isaias is likely to get bumped up to 70 kt/988 mbar for the 8pm intermediate advisory.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

How's this looking for NC now? Our local news is saying we won't get anything much. Coast will get 2"-4" rain and 40moh winds but that's all. That seems a little weak to me but maybe I've missed something today. Is it not riding up the coast now? I'm assuming it must be coming inland in FL if it's going to have such a low impact here. I trust you guys more than I do my local news. Sad I know, but you'd have to know these guys. Our favorite and most intelligent met was forced into early retirement so it screwed us around here when it comes to weather. So if I could get an update from you guys that would be wonderful.

No data present to suggest a heading change, at least beyond a wobble here or a wobble there. Steady as he goes...

I think a true landfall in FL is becoming imminent.
