We are very simplistic Cajuns. Our thought process was that Covid is 98.7% survivable whereas Laura isn't giving us those odds so off we went. The eye is coming in right over my house. I said my goodbyes to my home this morning.

I don't know the last time I anticipated a pass this much. Michael, perhaps.

That was common in past hurricanes down there, including Audrey and Camille. Alligators and water moccasins.

On roofs?? That's just plain over the top lol. When a person can't even crawl on they're own roof for a Coast Guard airlift rescue, because Fido is busy fending off water moccasins and you're having to be Indiana Jones evading two really pissed off 12' gators. #havingacrappyday

You've never read any of those news stories? People were floating in the surge trying to survive and they would grab a piece of floating roof or drywall and there would be snakes and alligators there that beat them to it. Or they would get on their own roof and when the water level reached it any number of vermin would climb onto it to avoid drowning.

Wow  LOL, no.... I hadn't heard. Fascinating stuff!

Looks like we're going to have two NE quad passes at the same time with the NOAA plane and Air Force plane.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Hey why not have them fly about 2500 feet apart from each other.

that doesn't have the most recent east/west pass from the NOAA plane right?

Not that it matters at this intensity but whatever's going on with the NE eyewall might be keeping the stronger winds from making it to the surface.

So sorry for you and your house. Like anything material, it can be replaced. Glad you bugged out.
