I'd say the SFMR is a bit high? 55 kt would be my best intensity guess.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

55 kts is what I figured from that last pass too so not surprised. Looks like maybe 6 hours or so until landfall in Belize.

Re: ATL: NANA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Latest pass had 72 kt FL winds at 10,000 feet (supports 65 kt at the surface). Combined with the previous SFMR, I'd go with 60 kt. Pressure looks to be down to about 993 as well.

As forecasted, Nana is close to a hurricane right before making landfall.

She did it. After nearly becoming crippled with a broken leg exposed center she managed to chug all the way through. Unfortunately it continues the theme of intensifying storms up to landfall.

Nano Nana made it to hurricane status, with only a few hours to spare. Now she ruined my post on the 2020 indicators thread.

Not a good trend as we approach the “P” storm on the 2nd of September. I have a feeling we’ll be speaking Greek in October.

Will Nana keep on chugging and regain hurricane strength in EPac?

Re: ATL: NANA - Hurricane - Discussion
Of the 4 Category 1s so far this year, they have trended weaker in order from Hanna (90; 973) to now Nana (75; 994). Assuming Nana’s pressure doesn’t fall below 991 (Marco) it will continue the trend. Just an interesting pattern I found which doesn’t really mean anything

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.
