I'm thinking Alabama landfall now. The center reformed pretty far east.

That's what I'm thinking, even NHC keeps mentioning their 80 mile average error at 48 hours and if this deviates anywhere it'll be east with the landfall now that it is intensifying.

Should be mentioned... NHC has put extreme SE LA, south Mississippi and SW Alabama under HIGH risk for extreme flooding. Hasn’t been issued since Harvey I believe

I removed the outlandish post. Please don't respond to them as it only makes it harder to clean up. Please just report it.

I don't see anyone here saying that but NW Florida will see significant impacts and only go higher the further east she goes.

Yep. If she makes landfall in AL or even MS the western panhandle will no doubt see a lot of impacts including storm surge. I am concerned for areas like Perdido key and Pensacola beach if this comes in stronger and more east than expected.

Those forecasts are issued by WPC, not NHC and I believe it was used for Florence in 2018 and possibly a few other non-TC related events.

Sure looks like an eyewall starting to develop pretty quickly on radar.

This is so not true it hurts

If Sally were going to really get explosive intensification, we would have seen signs of it by now. It will in all likelihood gain some strength before landfall but my question is why do we root for these storms to go from tropical strength to cat 3? I would rather it just be a minimum cat 1 or below and do as little damage as possible.

Some of us are on these weather boards because we want to see Mother Nature make our jaws drop and put her fury on display. We don't have any control over it one way or the other.

Radar appears to be picking up 90+ flight level winds several thousand feet up in the NE quadrant

Seems like east of there is more realistic imho. Maybe a move toward SELA and a pull up somewhere between Pass Christian and Mobile County?

Is it odd that the Hurricane Warning extends only to the MS/AL border? It extends way west, but only a little east of the projected landfall area.

I think they will extend east next advisory to AL/FL line. Possibly bring a watch to okaloosa/walton line.

Bet you a dollar to a donut that will change at the 5:00pm advisory. I say they extend them to the Alabama / Florida border.

The next discussion is going to be interesting, and thanks for posting the link to that gravity wave. I don't think I've ever seen something quite like that.

Maybe as far east as Panama city you think?

Probably a holdover from when NHC and most of the models thought it was going to hit west of the Mississippi Delta. They won't get rid of the extra hurricane warnings to the west until they're absolutely confident Sally won't change her mind and turn back to the left again.
