According to NHC, Beta is already starting the westward turn.

Just saw that. Thank you

Can only mean one thing.
Stay tuned.

The CoC is nearly fully obscured by that hot tower.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Amazing how this popped out of the deepest dry air.
Goes to show you what a shear-driven cold-pool can do.
I am afraid what this may become once the warm-core develops over this.

no link, but here is the composite with satellite overlay.

you can see the tower has rotated to the east side of the llc.

Tower appears to be washing out due to the shear.
Leaving a nice warm-core feature though.
In pulse mode now.
When the next tower fires will indicate how rapidly this may intensify.

Beta's circulation is much more circular and well defined today. Beta looks stationary atm. I find stationary storms fascinating. On one hand, the official track has been anticipating a slow down and change of direction to the W, so a stationary Beta is not a surprise. On the other, the length of time it remains stationary before heading W has big implications for the coastline in the warning area, since timing with the trough that will ultimately turn it NE is critical.

Beta has started the NW turn. Current track from NHC takes it to the coast near Matagorda Bay as a CAT1 then slightly inland and then NE as a strong TS over Houston and continuing NE.

Banding features quickly snapping into shape NE of the CoC.
Buoy in this area also showing an increase in wind speed by 10 knots.
It's strengthening.

The rotating tower was between 30 and 50 dBz echo on radar.
Pretty much at the end of the radar range.
Not shabby at all.

What models if any are showing intensification to over a cat 1?
