Well for the north Texas folks, this run of the GFS just Euro'ed. Too cold aloft = suppression depression?

Yep, super suppressed. Maybe some flakes for the Hill Country. That is never a good sign when the GFS jumps towards the Euro.

Unanimous 12z agreement on a suppressed solution with best winter wx chances out West and into Central Texas.

It was definitely better than 0z! North trend .

It's funny how just the other day we were hoping colder, now we need a little warmer.

12z ensembles still seem to favor a northern track but the 12z EPS was a general overall cutback on snow. A lot of the 12z op runs are way on the southern side of guidance, giving some reason to believe we will see a north trend in coming runs.

The NWS in FW doesn't seem too impressed

The next storm system will begin to develop across the Southern
Rockies on Saturday and drop southeast through the Rio Grande
Valley into Sunday. A cold front will move across the region late
Saturday as an Arctic high builds across the western two-thirds of
the CONUS. While it looks like most precipitation will exit our
region to the southeast before temperatures fall below freezing
late Saturday night, there may be a window for a rain/snow mix
across areas near the Red River. The most likely time for any
wintry precipitation will be Saturday night and into Sunday
morning. Right now, we are not expecting any accumulations, and
models have trended drier in the last couple of days. By Sunday
night, precipitation and most of the cloud cover should exit the
region, leading to a cold and clear night. Lows are likely to drop
into the 20s across much of the region. Cool and dry weather will
continue into the early part of next week.

Looking at GFS soundings of the event coming this weekend, and i am slightly more confident that snow will fall. It may not stick, but beggars cant be choosers. I was ab le to take a leap and predict snow would fall in Dec 2017 in houston just by looking at the sounding. Right now, its showing a freezing layer with 100% humidity not far above the surface. Key is, how long will the snow fall before it turns to rain? Criticism is encouraged. Im heading back out to the slopes. Been puking all day here!

Slight bump north on the 18z GFS but the 500mb pattern is very chaotic with multiple pieces of energy tumbling around.
