Looking quite impressive on IR. The subtropics are showing off yet again.

Ehm... I didn't expect Martin to look this good so soon. Very likely already a hurricane imo. ADT is still quite low (T#2.8) but it doesn't seem to correctly detect the eye.

ADT does very poorly with most high-latitude systems. Martin is definitely at least 65 kt right now. While a lot of mid-latitude systems can develop eyes before reaching hurricane intensity, they don’t have nearly as much deep convection as Martin. I’ll be very surprised if the NHC doesn’t pull the trigger at 11am.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Advisory #5 out confirming Martin as a Hurricane, it's wild that the NHC has a 105 mph peak.

Re: ATL: MARTIN - Hurricane - Discussion
The last time we had two hurricanes in the Atlantic basin at the same time in November was in 2001 with Michelle and Noel. Now we have Lisa and Martin.

Martin now expected to get close to major intensity. Forecast to hit 90 KT per NHC.

Re: ATL: MARTIN - Hurricane - Discussion
This is looking pretty good, I wonder if this has a chance to get to 100kts. Certainly doesn't seem impossible with the current 90kt forecast peak. Since there's no land in play, I'm rooting for it
