Oh jeez! The 0z GFS has caved to the Euro for Early December and it would be a DISASTER!

What’s the AO looking like the next few weeks? I’m thinking this could make the difference between being cold or really cold.

It's so strong, that it has a SSW with it!

I still don’t really see a favorable pattern to get the cold down here. The NAO might be favorable but the EPO really isn’t. Ensembles don’t show any lower heights making it this far down south and are even showing higher heights at times especially coming from the SE ridge. Without the favorable EPO, the cold will stay up north.

I'm liking the warming trend in the models over the next couple of weeks. Maybe even low 80s for this weekend. I also remember the unseasonably warm weather we had the week before the big Christmas freeze events of 1983 and 1989. More work on my wall was completed over the weekend. Latest models reflect the barrier.

Once there is a Strong -NAO in December, it usually stays that way until possibly January and/or February.

Normally this is by the GFS, but the Euro is showing this?

What effect would this have on the southern states?

Personally I like a few warm days during winter especially after a really cold period. Non-stop cold rain is not my thing and this November was a good example.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Please don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

As long as "above 60" is warm to you, I'm okay with that. Above 75 is HOT.

We would be on the southern fringe, maybe near where the Subtropical Jet and the Polar Jet met up.

If it's the next 7-10 days, then we would get mostly rain.

I hate trying to decipher map colors.

It looks like that Euro snow map has below normal snow for OK and N Texas. Heck; over most areas.

That seems odd.

Those brown colors are 1-4 inches. The color code is tied to millimeters on that chart.

Probably need to wait until beyond Dec 10 or maybe even mid-month before things really get interesting for the Southern Plains.
