As we get closer it should be able to capture the best lift within the vortmax. It didn't really go that much south or west at the upper levels.

I'm hoping those in DFW can get in on the snow. It will take a miracle for us to get some in the Houston area but I have family that lives up there so I would be happy for them.

There’s a legitimate chance southeast Texas can still get something. You’ll have a way better idea once we get into the 24-48 hour range on the Hi-res models.

Looks like better timing with the vort max rounding the base, and there were some significant upper level changes with the jet.

A little off topic but if you have NFL network look at that lake effect in Buffalo right now. Awesome!

I think the gfs warms us up too quickly here in southeast texas. And the icon shows us colder longer. Gfs just now kind of hinting at some moisture showing in the gulf….

Thanks for the heads up. I don’t care who is playing, I will stop what I’m doing and turn on the snow game.

Looks like there's a plane out in the Pacific doing Recon. Could see some shifts at 06z and 12z

Is their recon data posting some place? They need to hit the ULL out by Hawaii and catch the s/w headed for Alaska.

To my untrained eye, with each run, we are trending further and further away from any frozen stuff here in south Louisiana. :(

Based on the 12/18z super ensemble blend, I would put it about 20% DFW sees 0.5-1" of snow. Obviously, that increases as you move north and east.

Agreed. You know me. I’m here when there’s a chance. We have a chance.

I think the kuchera map is underdoing totals in Dallas and tarrant county for its tendency to overdo the heat island effect in situations like this. The 10:1 map gives these counties over an inch of snow, and I doubt the ratio would be less than 10:1 if Collin and Denton are greater than 10:1

Stop looking at the globals for precip. Once Hi-res models come into the picture they will be far more accurate. Most wintry storms down here along the Gulf coast aren’t picked up by the models till 24-48 hours in advance.
