I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

I wonder if they're splitting the difference between "Philippe dissipates, Rina bombs out" and "Rina dissipates, Philippe bombs out".

I didn't have "West Pacific-like fujiwhara effect in the middle of the MDR in late September/early October during a strong El-nino year" on my bingo card. This is nuts and super cool. I'm rooting for one to win out and become a major.

I forgot what I predicted so I went back to look...apparently 14. Seems kind of low now, I guess.

I am going to be honest, I don't think anyone expected the Atlantic to be this active with an El Nino

You did better than me. I went with 10 lol. After how last year was despite a La Niña, I never expected we’d surpass 2017’s NS total before October.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

So, let's review:
Atlantic has two named storms active.
Eastern Pacific has ZERO, and
Western Pacific has ZERO.

Kinda too bad they don't have those Doublemint gum commercials anymore because these two might be good candidates.
