NWS Radar shows really light precip over DFW. Maybe dry slot.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

From the Austin area. Unfortunately, it looks like freezing drizzle will be the main show. Models are even taking away what looked like a nice snow event for NE TX into Southern AR.

Ercot shows a little spike in forced outages (as opposed to planned outages). They also show demand outpacing supply tomorrow morning. Concerning it b.

With NWS saying roads will mostly be fine definitely having school Tuesday. Unlikely to get a surprise snow etc.

Dry hole with no returns over me currently.

So it does look like the northern qpf likely won't verify due to cold, dry air. It's going to be from the southern sector where there is warmer air a loft to support it.

Yea not sure what good all this cold is without a drop of precip to go with it. Kinda boring. But that’s just my opinion. I know there’s lots to be learned in every event. Just frustrating there always seems to be moisture ahead of time, then it disappears. There’s always next time.

Yup and that's where I knew models like the Euro were up to no good again with its depiction of freezing rain for example. Just didn't align with the setup overall along with its slower progression of the front which as a result changes the outcomes. Another fail for the Euro in my opinion within the short range.

A balmy 42F with a clear sky here in Houston. Freeze line almost touching NW Harris County. Think I'll go for a long bike ride.

Im never forgiving the euro for burying us here. It got everyone's hopes and hype up here and it's completely unacceptable in 2024

As far as I'm concerned if this is how winter is gonna be why bother

Currently 2 degrees in Tulsa, which is obviously a very dry air. Radar showing snow over top of us but definitely not making it to the ground. Crazy to think just 3-4 days ago we were talking about potentially 10” of snow, now we will likely make it out of this week with absolutely no snow. Ready for sunshine and comfortable weather at this point.

Exactly and Everytime I go on social media everyone what happened to the 10 inches of snow I mean come on models should be better than this by now. It's just sad and pathetic that this is the best we can do in 2024

mPing reports picking up across DFW. Also, looks like OKC is starting to see snow based on reports.

Turned to all snow here but very light. Drizzle earlier has all surfaces coated in ice.

Think we're letting our disappointment cloud our judgement a little. The fact that we even have all these models to follow is pretty incredible. They are literally predicting weather days in advance. It's not always going to be 100% accurate.

The air in north TX and Oklahoma is just too dry for precip. Dew point zero at DFW and -10 to -15F across OK. Hard to squeeze moisture from the dry air. I see Austin is reporting a little light freezing drizzle and 24F with a 17F dew point.

Latest from Steve McCauley:

Bitterly cold air continues to drain into north Texas with temperatures in the single digits and teens in most areas with wind chill factors at or below zero. We stay below freezing through Wednesday afternoon.
Very light snow - much of it sublimating (i.e., disappearing) before reaching the ground is noted along the Red River Counties to our north. The precipitation will get a little more significant and start making it down to the ground later this afternoon and especially tonight and will be a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow, with the best of it to our east.
Accumulations in the Metroplex continue to look to be very light, if any, and mostly be in the form of freezing sprinkles or sleet pellets with some flurries possible as well. At this time, it does not appear to be overly significant for us but keep in mind it simply does not take much more than freezing drizzle to make for a few slick spots to form.
The accumulating snow still appears to stay to our north in far eastern Oklahoma and much of Arkansas. South-central Arkansas will see the most with 3 to 7 inches expected.
Of the most concern will be the ice for eastern and southeastern sections of north Texas, generally east and southeast of the immediate DFW area. While not very heavy, the light freezing rain and sleet will have much more impact in terms of slick travel overnight into Monday morning.
Bottom Line: This will NOT be a repeat of Feb 2021, but don't let your guard down on the roads, especially if you have to travel NE, E, and SE of the Metroplex.

It doesn't help that for 2 years now every storm trends bad here like I don't get it

I just want one storm to be good here for once

Just drove to Hawkins on US 80. 19f with drizzle that sticks to the windshield. Streets look wet already
